Positioned between Crickhowell and Gilwern, this charming accommodation is full of period features and the perfect retreat for couples or solo travellers seeking a tranquil and comfortable break.
A stay in The Chapel is more like a hotel experience where you are relieved of domestic chores like washing up, cleaning and complex meal preparation, yet have the facilities to prepare simple meals and snacks in the nicely equipped, compact kitchen area.
From the hall of your private entrance, step into the charming and inviting open plan space that combines both comfort and functionality. Three windows allow natural light into the room, two offering views across the Usk valley towards the famous Sugarloaf landmark, and the idyllic surrounding landscape. The studio is delightfully furnished with a king-size bed with luxurious, high-thread-count linens, plush, goose and duck feather and down pillows and duvet to help you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to embark on new adventures. The en-suite is perfect to freshen up before heading out to explore the Brecon Beacons and its enchanting surroundings. The local towns and villages boast many culinary delights for all tastes and pockets with excellent cafes, pub food and restaurants, some award winning, using excellent, locally sourced produce. The 36 miles of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal are accessible from the property, where you can walk or cycle east to local pubs and shops in Gilwern, or west, and a little further, to the delights of Crickhowell, ‘the jewel in the Beacons’.
Outside the studio, you’ll discover a small seating area where you can take in the view and enjoy the peaceful ambience and fresh air. It’s an ideal spot for savouring a cup of coffee whilst planning the day or a glass of wine to relax and unwind after cycling, walking or exploring. Or perhaps, light the wood burner, turn on the TV and snuggle up for a comfortable, stay-at-home evening in front of the fire. Waffle dressing gowns are provided!

The Chapel is a marvelous place to spend a couple of days. We greatly enjoyed the cosy building, the magnificent view of the hills, the quietness, and the canal trail that can be entered just behind the property. Please be aware that there is no sink in the kitchen, so you can hardly use any streaming water. The upside of this is that you don't have to do any dish washing - that's done for you by the host :-).

We had such a wonderful stay! The hosts couldn’t have been nicer, kinder, or more courteous; they truly went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. The property is a beautiful, relaxing sanctuary, and if you love stargazing, the views here are absolutely unbelievable. As a couple where one of us is disabled, I especially appreciated how accessible and easy the space was to move around in.Abergavenny is close enough for a trip by car, though it is best to have the hosts reserve one for you if you don’t have your own vehicle. If you do bring your own car, it is a very short and convenient drive. We had a lovely, relaxing time and will definitely be back!

The only downside due to the hot weather was lack of comfortable seating in a shaded area. The host was only too happy to assist and gave us the amenities to do this a couple of days into the stay. The host was happy friendly and kind for our first cottage stay I would certainly be booking again. The chapel was beautiful along with its surroundings.
