The small village of Trefor, which overlooks Caernarfon Bay and is surrounded by sea and mountains, has a harbour with a stone breakwater pier and a sheltered sandy beach that the Wales Coastal Path goes past, or the brave can experience regular surf outside the breakwater. There is a convenience store, a Post Office, and a licenced social club in the settlement. The Welsh Language and Heritage Centre and restaurant are located nearby in the community of Llithfaen.

We absolutely loved the log fire, Hot tub and sauna. kitchen had everything we needed, plenty of utensils, crockery, roasting dishes pans etc. All bedrooms were clean and fresh with plenty of storage. Great, safe enclosed garden for our dog to wander around. We didnât venture out so I canât comment on nearby places. It was just what we wanted, a relaxing new year break away. Weâve already booked to come back in the summer!

However the cottage lacks charm. We were very disappointed of the cleanliness and the overall finish was not of a good standard. No welcome pack or finishing touches which made it feel very unloved and cold. Itâs such a shame as this place could be perfect. The bathroom is not ideal for 6 people sharing. It needs a shower that can be used by all guests. We ended using the outdoor electric shower as the water was cold. We spent over £900 on a weekend away and felt really deflated afterwards. I have to say Sykes were amazing and dealt with our concerns in a very professional way. I just wish the owner would up the game for what could be a perfect getaway. The hot tub and sauna are great touches but doesnât make up for the lack of charm.
