Close by are Criccieth, with its castle, and Abersoch, a harbour town also renowned for beaches and watersports. Much of the peninsula is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a lot of the coastline is owned by the National Trust providing bays, beaches and clifftop walks, as well as wildlife havens like Bardsey Island.
