Ok so, we booked 3 nights for a birthday weekend at the woodpecker lodge. Was expensive, which is fair if absolutely amazing. However, it was mediocre at best. When we arrived, the oven was broke (worked but the glass was all broken and the oven didn’t close). The whole lodge could do with a proper good clean, was definitely not at good cleaning standards that’s for sure. The sofa was all ripped and the springs was shot on the sofa so could hardly sit on it without ending up on the floor. Other than that the lake was lovely and the hot tub was probably the best thing about it. Probably wouldn’t go again for that price..

We had a lovely time with our friends beautiful place very clean and being on the lake was just the best feeding the ducks and swans . Beautiful lodge but the sofa needs replacing as it goes right down in the middle and is uncomfortable and we could do with some coat hooks on the doors . We paid for robes for the hot tub and had to pay 10 pound deposit on each robe which we think was very excessive on top of the 5 pound each for the hiring of them . We were told they were all the same size which they weren’t at all some smaller than others and they were very worn and rough . The hot tub was absolutely amazing we will be back beautiful place x

A lovely setting by the lake and the lodge was spacious for just the 2 of us. I'm not sure that the top floor would suit adults as getting up and down the stair/steps would be a bit of a nightmare, but probably fine for kids. The lodged needed a good clean. Whilst check in and out times have been adjusted to allow for the extra cleaning for Covid, it wasn't obvious! Upon arrival there were cobwebs in corners which had caught loads of little flies and it was clear that these had been there for a while and therefore missed in the cleaning that should have taken place prior to our arrival. The skirting boards were all dusty too. However, the staff were great and sent someone over to clean straight away and provided fly spray, which with the lodge being by the lake, was needed especially if you have the windows and doors open. Also, the kitchen lacked utensils and storage containers etc and there were no instructions on how to use the cooker or washing machine etc! We got lucky with using the equipment! The hot tub was lovely and included mood lighting, but there's no privacy as people staying in the opposite lodge can see you. It would be difficult to add any screening though, as you wouldn't then have a view of the lake. Finally, there's no WIFI, which we did know about in advance, but it would have been handy.
