Ty Newydd y Graig, a limestone cottage reached by a narrow, twisty road ending in farmland, backs on to a protected nature reserve on the outskirts of the ancient village of Tremeirchion. It is ideal for those seeking peace in beautiful surroundings, but not for those needing all conveniences on the door step. The pub is half a mile away and open every night. It serves food Wednesday-Sunday. Two miles away is another village pub that serves food every night. Groceries can be ordered online from the supermarkets in Rhyl or Denbigh and delivered at a convenient time.
The house backs on to Y Graig with rare flowers, badger setts, and blackberries. There is a disused limestone quarry, paths and benches. Children will love it. Dogs are allowed but must be on leads if sheep are grazing the land. Offa’s Dyke can be reached via Y Graig, making the house a good base for hikers.
There are market towns like Denbigh and Ruthin, and St Asaph, with its lovely cathedral, just a few minutes’ drive away. Llandudno is about 30 minutes away, and has a dry ski slope and toboggan run available year round. There is also a large shopping centre, beach, pier, theatre, and Victorian architecture. Chester is about 30 minutes away and is well worth a visit, with everything from a Roman amphitheatre to mediaeval row shops and Georgian houses. There are a great selection of well-known high street stores in the city centre, which also boasts many coffee shops and restaurants. And just past Chester is a retail shopping outlet centre, Cheshire Oaks.
Ty Newydd y Graig has been owned by the same people for over 50 years. It was a perfect family house and continues to provide the owners’ grandchildren the opportunity to be children. Shop 5 miles, pub ½ and restaurant ¾ miles.
