Ruthin is a hilltop town resting to the north of Llangollen with access via the Horseshoe Pass, making a beautiful base for those seeking outdoor adventure in Wales. The town presents a scatter of half-timbered buildings housing all the amenities you could need for a self-catered stay such as shops and eateries, as well as Nant Clwyd House and Ruthin Gaol and Ruthin Craft Centre being worth exploring. You will find Snowdonia National Park and Chester in easy reach too, as well as Lake Brenig, Moel Famau Country Park and Clocaenog Forest.
