About this property

A very attractive self-contained cottage adjoining the owner's home a mile above the village of Gwyddelwern, 3 miles north of Corwen.

Ysgubor Wen is an attractive self-contained single-storey cottage, set in extensive mature gardens a mile above the village of Gwyddelwern, with stunning views over the Dee Valley and towards the Berwyn Mountains. Ideally located to explore Llangollen 10 miles, Bala 12 miles or the historic town of Ruthin 9.5 miles.

Full of character with high pitched beamed ceilings and antique furniture, the attractive sitting room is light and airy with an electric 'log burner' stove, TV/DVD, sofa bed and great views. The kitchen/diner comprises a pine fitted kitchen with a washing machine, table and chairs. The impressive double bedroom has a four poster bed and antique furniture. There is a compact shower room. Heating by modern electric panel heaters. The garden and private patio has garden furniture to sit and admire both the views and the owner's collection of sculptures.

Ysgubor Wen is next to Pen Y Foel Isaf (WAF185) and together could accommodate 6 people. They provide excellent opportunities for birdwatching and stock of bird food is provided for guests. Local shops and cafes can be found at Corwen, 2 miles away. Corwen and Carrog are associated with the historical figure of Owain Glyndwr and there is an impressive statue of him in the town square at Corwen. The heritage steam train from Corwen will take you to the pretty town of Llangollen, where you can enjoy horse drawn canal boat rides. A walk along the Llangollen canal will take you to The Horseshoe Falls in one direction and the World Heritage site of the Froncysyllte Aqueduct in the other. This rural area is excellent for outdoor activities with walking and mountain biking, fishing on the River Dee and watersports at Llyn Brenig and Bala Lake. The Snowdonia National Park and walled City of Chester are within a short drive.

Apart from 2 shallow steps at the door to the property, it is all on one level and may therefore be suitable for some guests with mobility difficulties.

Were welcomed to site by helper of owner. Owner visited and was very helpful and friendly, courteous and informative. Pity we are probably unable to visit again, due to age considerations.

Absolutely stunning, the owner Heather is such a lovely lady, loved our time there, scenery is fabulous, cottage barn was gorgeous, we loved every minute.

We enjoyed staying in the beautiful cottage with the gorgeous views, we will miss that when we are at home in Friesland. We explored a little of the beautiful things of Wales, such as Bodnant Garden, Corwen and Chirk Castle. We thank you for your great hospitality!!
