Denbigh is an 11th-century town with the ruins of a 13th-century castle built on a steep hill above the town with spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. Denbigh is a bustling little town with a variety of shops and pubs, as well as a number of festivals and events, such as walking festivals, beer festivals, the Denbigh and Flint Annual Show, the Denbigh Plum Festival, and a monthly People's Market. The cathedral at St Asaph, the beach resorts of Prestatyn or Llandudno, and the mediaeval city of Chester, just across the border in England, are all within easy distance of Denbigh. The Snowdonia National Park, with its gorgeous lakes, mountains, walking and cycling trails, is only a short drive away, while the Lleyn Peninsula and superb beaches on Anglesey are ideal for a day excursion.
