About this property

21 The Rest is a stunning second-floor apartment in a converted Grade II listed former Victorian rest home, at the edge of Porthcawl on the South Wales coast. Positioned overlooking a Blue Flag beach, boasting spectacular views over the Bristol Channel and sleeping up to five guests, 21 The Rest is an ideal apartment for discovering the South Wales coastline, within easy reach of Swansea and the capital city of Cardiff. On arrival, you will find two designated parking spaces, before climbing up two flights of the original Victorian staircase to your apartment, where you will be greeted by the spacious open plan living space. The fully fitted kitchen offers a breakfast bar, where you can grab a quick snack, and a handy integrated dishwasher to take care of the washing up, after you’ve cooked up a storm to be enjoyed together around the dining table. Gather in the seating area and admire the picturesque sea views from the window seat, then relax on the sofa and flick on the television after a long day of fun. Move on through the property to the master double bedroom, with window seat to enjoy the breath-taking sea views, plus built-in mirrored wardrobes and an en-suite shower room. The second double bedroom also has built-in wardrobes with great storage space to feel at home and the bijou single bedroom offers accommodation for a fifth guest. The family bathroom has a bath to allow guests to take a long soak, or get ready in style. To finish the lovely apartment, there is ample storage space in the hall, including a utilities cupboard with a washer/dryer to keep everyone feeling fresh. Just a stone’s throw away from The Rest, you can find a golf course and the gorgeous Rest Bay beach, where you can join the surf school, enjoy water sports, swim, sunbathe and picnic. Nearby is the town centre of Porthcawl with its promenade, marina and lighthouse, bustling with plenty of amenities to keep you busy, including restaurants serving local produce, as well as the Coney Beach amusement park at Trecco Bay for the children. Keen nature lovers can walk the Wales Coast Path, or explore the nearby Kenfig National Nature Reserve with its unique habitats and bird life; Margam Country Park with its castle, gardens, narrow gauge railway and rare breeds farm trail, while historians can visit the ruins of Newcastle and Coity castles near Bridgend. Further afield beyond Swansea, is the Gower Peninsula, the first area in the UK to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Choose 21 The Rest as your base for a South Wales coastal escape.

In Porthcawl you can enjoy the thrills of Coney Beach amusement park, play a round of golf at the golf course, take a quiet walk on the promenade, have a lazy day at the beach, take some surfing lessons, or sample good food at the many inns and restaurants. Yes, it’s a bit of a hike up all the stairs but it’s well worth it. The flat was clean and well designed. The views were just lush! We loved Porthcawl for our short break and enjoyed food in the cafe next door and had a delicious pizza delivered from weird doh.

The views of Rest Bay from the open-plan lounge & master bedroom are wonderful. The double parking space is an added bonus. We loved it. Hope to return one day. Also, the owners emailed us excellent instructions on access etc. Thank you.

That coupled with a beautiful apartment overlooking the bay it was a joy. The information provided prior to our arrival was accurate and therefore the beautiful flights of stairs leading to the apartment came as no surprise. This apartment is one of the best I have stayed in, beautifully presented with everything we needed and an abundance of the essentials . We loved the welcoming coffee and the milk frother ( my husband has subsequently bought one!) I suppose the best way to show how much we rated our stay is to say that half way through our holiday we booked for 2 weeks next year!!! Thankyou
