About this property

The Old Stable is a welcoming, two-bedroom barn conversion, that welcomes up to four guests for a rural getaway in the Garw Valley, South Wales countryside, located near the rural village of Bettws. Make use of the ample off-road parking and once inside, you'll find a welcoming living area with plush seating, a TV and a crackling woodburning stove and well-equipped kitchen where you can make meals throughout your stay. When rest calls, make the most of the two first floor double bedrooms, which are each supported by their own en-suite shower rooms, where you can freshen-down before nightfall or freshen-up come morning, before preparing to tour the wider locality. While more services are available across Bridgend, Bettws has a pub, a Post Office, and a convenience store for your use. Once you’re ready to tour the region, grab your hiking boots and head out to Bryngarw Country Park, a haven for spotting wildlife and breath-taking views. Further south, explore the ruins of Ogmore Castle and Merthyr Mawr Nature Reserve before reaching the stunning Welsh coastline at Ogmore By Sea or popular Porthcawl. Heading west, The National Waterfront Museum and the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery are well worth a visit if you decide to take in Swansea, the gate-way to the Gower Peninsula. Likewise, a visit to Wales' capital city Cardiff offers a day of art, culture and shopping, where you’ll have the opportunity to tour the National Museum Cardiff, Cardiff Castle, Wales Millennium Centre and Cardiff Bay. The nature lovers can head north and will enjoy the chance to explore the Brecon Beacons National Park. Indulge in a rural getaway at The Old Stable.

Bettws is a quaint ex-mining village situated on the River Ogmore in the South Wales Valleys, Bridgend. The village is small and picturesque, surrounded by beautiful countryside and a great location for exploring the South Wales coastline and neighouring towns. In the village you will find a pub, convenience store, St. David's Church and a footpath leading to Bryngarw Country Park, recognised as one of the best green spaces in the UK. Set over 100 acres of park land, it offers a sanctuary for visitors and wildlife, with landscape ranging from woodlands to wetlands, and meadows to formal gardens. Bridgend is just south of Bettws, a busier town with a local train station, plenty of eateries and shops to discover, and historical sites such as Newcastle Castle, St. John's House Trust, as well as Newbridge fields with plenty of walks and ruins to explore. Head east for Cardiff, the capital of Wales, for plenty of cultural and outdoor pursuits such as galleries, museums, watersports and hiking in the stunning surrounding scenery. Swansea sits west of Bettws, another fantastic city with plenty of parks, Swansea Market, the largest in Wales, with delicious local delicacies to try, or head out of the city to explore the spectacular cliffs and wildlife of the Gower Peninsula. Bettws is a quiet spot to escape the hustle and bustle, whilst on the doorstep to busier Welsh towns and dramatic landscapes.
