Minafon is a beautifully presented cottage in a stunning woodland setting, praised for its cleanliness, well-equipped kitchen, and peaceful atmosphere. Guests appreciate the scenic views, secure garden for dogs, and direct access to local walks. The welcome hampers and thoughtful touches are frequently mentioned, though not guaranteed. Some guests noted occasional road noise and minor issues with directions or furnishings, but these did not detract from an otherwise delightful stay. The cottage is ideal for those seeking tranquillity, comfort, and a touch of luxury in the heart of the countryside.
The cottage is consistently described as very clean, tidy, and well-maintained, with only one mention of a minor issue (a shower mat needing a wash). Overall, guests are highly satisfied with the cleanliness.
The location is widely praised for its beauty, seclusion, and access to walks and local attractions. However, several guests mention road noise from the nearby A470 and some difficulty finding the property, which slightly lowers the score.
Guests find the cottage comfortable, cosy, and well-furnished, with special mention of the underfloor heating and log burner. A few noted low or worn sofas and limited bedroom storage, but overall comfort is rated highly.
The cottage is described as very well-equipped, with everything needed for a self-catering stay. Minor suggestions include the need for an iron, ironing board, and improved coffee pot, but facilities are generally excellent.
Guests frequently mention generous welcome hampers and dog-friendly touches, such as treats and towels. While these thoughtful extras are highly appreciated, it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.
Set in the rolling Bodnant Estate with magnificent views of the River Conwy and the Snowdonia mountains beyond, Minafon is a secluded barn conversion, the perfect spot for a romantic break.
Minafon is one of 10 luxury self-catering cottages on The Bodnant Estate, a strikingly beautiful agricultural estate in North Wales. Set in hilly and wooded countryside in the lower reaches of the Conwy Valley, it commands spectacular views across to Snowdonia. Stone cottages and farm buildings have been restored using traditional materials and techniques, and the Estate supports farming and encourages other rural activities. Various houses and cottages in scenic positions on the Estate are available for rent as holiday lets. Come and stay in one of them - and enjoy walking on the many miles of private woodland paths winding through the Estate.
The cottage is a beautifully simple property, restored to a high standard yet decorated in the traditional style, with exposed stone walls and wooden beams and plain white tiles in the kitchen that are the perfect foil for the sweeping views from the window. The cottage occupies an elevated position on the edge of the estate, along its own woodland track, just off the A470, so you’ll probably find yourself gazing out onto the River Conwy or the mountains of Snowdonia beyond.
The property may be simple, but there are little touches of luxury, like underfloor heating throughout, and a wood burning stove to cosy up to in the evenings. Whether you’re hankering after some relaxing seclusion or you’d like to get out and about in the beautiful countryside, Minafon is your ideal base.
There are a number of other properties available to book at the Bodnant Estate; Ty Newydd, sleeping eight guests, Ty Cerrig, sleeping seven guests, Lletty, sleeping six guests, Lletty and Annexe, sleeping eight guests, Garth Iwrch, sleeping four guests, Bryn Derw, sleeping 4 guests, Bryn Rhydd, sleeping four guests, Tydden Derwen, sleeping five guests, Ty Ucha’r Ffordd, sleeping two guests and Bryn Mawr, sleeping 7 guests.

Beautiful cottage set in a private woodland location, with stream and bridge. Well set out cottage with everything you needed for your stay. Gorgeous welcome basket was a real treat of Welsh goodies on arrival. The garden is secluded and wraps around the cottage with views over the valley. One slight downside was the noise from the road which was busy and noticeable. We were blessed with sunshine so we sat out and could hear it. Being so close to Bodnant gardens was brilliant and we enjoyed them and exploring the local places of interest. Perfect that we had the dogs with us in the cottage - one small downside for us was that ours are very tiny yorkies and they could get out under the gate, but for most dogs this would not be an issue. This is a really great place to stay- we would go back and really enjoyed it.
