Mountain Coach House is set on the picturesque 120-acre Pontardawe Country Estate in Cilybebyll, near Pontardawe village. Surrounded by forests, bluebell woods, rivers, and open fields, the estate is an idyllic retreat between the Gower Peninsula and the Brecon Beacons National Park. The estate's courtyard lies beside the River Clydach and grazing pastures, with high sandstone hills providing a tranquil backdrop. Guests can explore award-winning bluebell woodlands, enjoy scenic farm walks up Mynydd Marchywel, and take in panoramic views of the Swansea Valley, Swansea Bay, and beyond.
The Gower Peninsula, with its stunning beaches like Rhossili Bay, is a 20-minute drive, offering hiking paths and dramatic views. The Times listed the beach as ‘The UK’s No.1 dog friendly beach’ so if you do have your furry friend with you, you should definitely go.
Nearby attractions include the Victorian village of Mumbles with its promenade, shops, and historic sites, as well as the National Showcaves of Wales and the Vale of Neath’s waterfalls. Ninette
We rented 2 cottages for 4 nights to spend Christmas with our son. We stayed in Stream Cottage. The cottage was quaint and warm. It was reasonably equipped which made our stay comfortable. It was surrounded by other cottages that all blend together with the working farm. There was a “farm trail” - a pleasant walk around the farm although it was tricky in places due to mud and marshy ground as this time of year. We reported a fault with a WC cistern and it was repaired almost immediately.
