    About this property

S78503 is a pretty white-painted semi-detached stone cottage, with enclosed rear garden overlooking Afon Leri, just 1.5 miles from the coast at Borth and 6 miles north of Aberystwyth.

S78503 is a delightful white-painted semi-detached stone cottage, with enclosed rear garden, overlooking Afon Leri (Leri River), just 1.5 miles from the coast at Borth and 6 miles north of Aberystwyth on the West Wales coast, overlooking the heart of Cardigan Bay, ideal for spotting dolphins and sea birds. This lovely old cottage retains many original features including beamed ceilings, slate floors and large inglenook fireplace with bread oven. Originally just ‘one-up one-down’, the cottage has now been extended to include a kitchen and ground floor shower room in addition to the spacious living room and bedroom.

Briefly, the accommodation and facilities comprise:

Kitchen: well-fitted galley kitchen with hand-made units, electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, tall fridge freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and slim dishwasher.

Shower Room: with shower cubicle, Victorian-style high-cistern WC and wash basin.

Living Room: a large room, with rugs over impressive Welsh slate flooring, large wood burner in the stone fireplace, beamed ceiling and walls, large sofa, footstool and armchair, large flat screen Freeview TV, Bluetooth speaker, WiFi, circular pine dining table and four chairs, dresser.

The original dark oak staircase, narrow and with two turns, rises from the living room direct into the first floor bedroom.

Bedroom: a spacious room with high beamed ceiling, rugs over original polished floorboards, double bed, imposing antique wardrobe, dressing table, chaise longue. There are views from the small bedroom windows at the rear of the property across the River Leri, which runs alongside the garden.

Outside: An enclosed side and rear garden with lawn and mature planting, patio and Summer House, overlooking the river. Garden furniture and barbecue. River rights (trout and occasionally salmon) on the River Leri, from the patio, if you have your own rod and license.

Parking: S78503 fronts the lane running through the picturesque village of Dol-y-Bont. There is one private gravelled parking space adjacent.

Heating: is primarily by the woodburning stove (logs provided), with additional freestanding electric heaters to supplement.

Borth and Ynyslas together provide over three miles of sandy beach, a lovely walk from Borth to the Ynyslas Nature Reserve, where the Afon Leri joins the Dyfi Estuary. Ynyslas also has a historic golf course. There is a small supermarket in Borth and several pubs, cafes and takeaways along the road from Borth to Ynyslas. A little further inland is an attractive waterfall, water mill and woodland walks at Furnace, also known as Artists' Valley, and nearby rspb Nature Reserve at Ynys-Hir. The university town of Aberystwyth has a castle, harbour, promenade and pier, with lovely views from Constitution Hill over Cardigan Bay.

    Mr Graham Johnson ‐ 7 Sep 2018
"Beautiful cottage!! Ideal location for walking from the door - did not use the car at all during our stay!"
    Mr Derek Weller ‐ 20 Aug 2018
"Very nice location, very friendly helpful owners"
    Mrs Noreen Kitchner ‐ 27 Jul 2018
"The beach walk from Borth to Ynyslas is a delight - at low tide can walk through the remains of the 6,000 year old submerged forest. This area is also practical for visiting southern Snowdonia - hiking Cadair Idris for example. If you enjoy the romance of an old cottage, this is a good one. "
    Ms Ben O’Neill ‐ 5 May 2018
"Perfect little cottage for a relaxing break. We loved it."
    Miss Katy Dillon ‐ 16 Sep 2017
"The weather could have been better for our stay, but the cottage has been well equipped and cosy. Aberystwyth is a fun place to eat - Tapas, Fusion King and the Express Cafe by the station all excellent. Castle Bere and Nant-y-Moch both very impressive"
    Mr A McGhee ‐ 29 Aug 2017
"Last minute decision to get away for the bank holiday and we found this beautiful cottage, we walked into town following Julie's little map & also visited Aberystwyth and ate in the Fusion King, highly recommend it. Our visit here has been the quiet and restful trip we wanted. My husband did some fishing and caught a few, met Julie on our first day here, very accommodation and nothing was too much bother, beautiful cottage, lovely comfy bed, all in all excellent."
    Mr raymond evans ‐ 25 Aug 2017
"The holiday was over all too quick. Thank you Julie & Martin. Lovely cottage and area. No luck with the fishing, but nice to sit and relax."
    Mrs F Hayward ‐ 18 Aug 2017
"Lovely relaxing holiday, beautiful cottage, so quiet!"
    Miss L Buckle ‐ 4 Aug 2017
"Just a perfect little cottage with the river running by and a very colourful garden. Had a wonderful stay."
    Mrs J Morris ‐ 17 Jul 2017
"Cottage has been very lovingly restored - lots of attention to detail, lovely."
    Mr Andrew Osborn ‐ 7 Jul 2017
"With S78503 you are custodians of something quite special. Rose reflects the many hours of hard graft you have put into virtually rebuilding the cottage to the very highest standard, whilst maintaining the period features and atmosphere. You should both be very proud. We have spent a lovely week relaxing to birdsong and the burbling of the river. We have also enjoyed exploring the delights of the coast and villages, including the lovely country walk into Borth. Thank you very much for the stay, which has been well worth the long journey!"
    Mr Nick Spencer
"What a beautiful cottage - was a special birthday and made it very memorable! All the extra touches go a long way, like the lovely garden overlooking a river, the log burner to sit cosily around, and the grand bedroom tops it off! We stay in a lot of cottages and have to honestly say - this was my favourite! Thank you."
    Ms D Snowdon
"It is a charming and elegant property. Very spacious and comfortable. Location is perfect for a quite, relaxing time yet in close proximity to many outings or day trips to keep us entertained."
    Ms Derryn Snowdon
"The perfect hide-away! An elegant and charming cottage - a home from home. Returning to rustic living with the log fire, village surroundings - birds, stream, nature. And fabulous weather! Many, many thanks!"
    Mr Dorrington
"We had a fantastic time, what a beautiful little cottage!"
