About this property

This Edwardian railway carriage, on its clifftop site in Aberporth, really has the wow factor! It has been converted into stunning accommodation full of original charm, while hitting all the right notes on style and comfort. The main rooms all have wonderful views over the sea. On a clear day you can see as far away as North Wales.

There are regular sightings of resident bottlenose dolphins and seals from the carriage. It is also a great bird watching site, with oyster catchers, gannets, cormorants and kittiwakes, as well as kestrels and red kites, to be seen, so you may not want to venture out at all during your stay.

If you do go out, the carriage is just a short distance from the two sandy beaches of Aberporth, as well as the Ceredigion coast path, local pubs, village shops and eateries. New Quay, Tresaith, Llangrannog, Cwmtydu, Cardigan and Aberaeron are all nearby, as are the two beautiful National Trust beaches of Mwnt and Penbryn.

You will enjoy the comfort and style of this snug carriage, and take away with you the memories of the spectacular location.

Aberporth is a small town that sits on the southern edge of Cardigan Bay in Ceredigion, renowned for it's fabulous beaches that attract visitors, all year round. There are two beaches that sit between the rocky headlands of Trecregyn and Fathgarreg, separated by a smaller rocky outcrop. Uniquely, at low tide they interlink, but at high tide, they create individual beaches and create great rock pools for the children to play in and explore. Small boats, canoes, and kayaks can easily be launched from the north beach, while the south beach lends itself beautifully for a spot of sunbathing. Close to the beaches, there is a small seaside café, fish and chip shop, and a friendly pub serving good food and drinks. In the village itself, there is a range of shops and takeaway stores. Nestled directly on the famous Wales Coast Path, between the towns of Cardigan in the south, and Llangrannog and New Quay to the north, it is a great base for exploring this glorious stretch of coastline. Venture to Cardigan and discover the town’s many shops, tea rooms, restaurants, pubs, and bustling markets. Visit the nearby themed farm park, spot dolphins from the coastal path, or take a boat trip for the chance to see them up close! Aberporth is a great base for exploring this wonderful part of West Wales, with something to do for all the family.

Just as it looks on the website, everything clean and inviting. Exceptional views of the sea, unlike any other property that we have stayed in. The only fault we felt, was that it would benefit from a new sofa. The present one is very low and there is no support in the seat cushions. Easy to remedy. Superb walks from the carriage with a very easy cliff top path to Tresaith. Loved the holiday and will not hesitate to recommend to friends.

Enjoyed plenty of local walks even though the weather wasn't favourable we made the most of it. Beautiful views of the Irish sea from the bedroom when waking in the morning. Enjoyed cosy evenings infront of the log burner.

Even with pretty bad winter weather, this was a wonderful holiday. From the very lovely welcome pack to the comfort and amenities, we thought this was just great. Cosy at night, bright in the morning and a gentle stroll to the beach. Thank you so much. We will hopefully be back in the summer to enjoy sitting out on the decking and enjoying clear nights.
