Pencader is a small village in the Welsh county of Carmarthenshire, just south-east of Llandysul and south-west of Llanybydder. It is a quiet village set in a west Wales valley with little more than 500 houses, a shop, a fine fish and chip shop, and two pubs. It hosts the site of an old castle, which is now a grassy Motte. Maesycrugiau is a short drive away, a quiet, pretty village lying in a leafy valley along the River Teifi. It has easy access to shops, takeaways, and pubs at Llanllwni. Just 12 miles away, the market town of Carmarthen offers a variety of large high street shops, unique local produce shops, pubs, cafes, and restaurants, as well as a cinema and theatre. Visit Merlin's Hill Centre, steeped in history and shrouded in mystery, where legend has it that Merlin lies imprisoned inside the hill. With the famous Boat House of Dylan Thomas at Laugharne, the many castles and museums to explore, the wonderful sandy beaches of Carmarthen and Cardigan coastlines, National Botanic Gardens of Wales, the Wetland Centre, or the famous Gwili Steam Railway all within a short drive makes this area a great base for a wonderful family holiday.
