About this property

The Annex is a superb cottage situated within the wonderful country setting of the Towy River Valley, famous for its salmon fishing and castles, shadowed by Paxton's Tower, a local folly. Set over two floors, this quaint abode offers a heart-warming escape for two couples seeking a rural base in Carmarthenshire. An off-road parking space will greet you, positioned close to the front door so you can easily unload your baggage. Step directly into the open-plan living space, boasting a real sense of charm and character, here you can settle down beside the woodburning stove, complemented by the Smart TV for those cosy movie nights. Step through to the kitchen, an immaculately presented space, where the house chef can get to work on a home-cooked dish, assisted by a range of integrated appliances. Enjoy a meal at the dining table before pouring a glass of fizz and resting on the front patio furniture. The bedrooms are situated upstairs, a king-size and a double, and both feature wooden furnishings, while the bathroom is where you can prepare for the day with a quick rinse. The little village of Llanarthney is home to a pub and a traditional shop, Wright’s Food Emporium, where you can grab some local produce and cupboard essentials. With superb walking and cycling from the doorstep, it's easy to make the most of this lovely countryside location. Nearby is the National Botanic Garden of Wales, home to over 400 acres of flower rich meadows and evocative woodlands. Visit the county town of Carmarthen and enjoy shopping in some of the main stores, as well as discovering a number of smaller independent shops, sample wonderful home-produced cuisine, ride the steam train, or head to the coast for golden sandy beaches. Further afield is the scenic Brecon Beacons National Park, a real haven for outdoor enthusiasts offering activities such as stargazing, watersports and underground caves exploration. The Annex sits in a great region of Wales, providing a lovely base in any season.

The remnants of a Norman castle, the site of a Roman amphitheatre, a museum with Roman relics, and a good variety of shops, bars, and restaurants can all be found in Carmarthen, which sits on the banks of the River Tywi. Carmarthenshire is renowned as the 'Garden of Wales,' with its stunning coastline and countryside providing the ideal setting for a variety of activities. There are several country parks, show caverns, gold mines, steam railroads, and castles to explore, as well as superb walking, cycling, birdwatching, fishing, and golf. Day tours to the lovely Carmarthen Bay's golden sand beaches and rocky coves, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, and the spectacular Black Mountains are all available.
