Nestled in a beautiful part of the Cothi Valley, this very special hideaway offers a true retreat away from the hustle and bustle of some of the more well-known holiday spots in Wales. Overlooking the Brechfa Forest in the undiscovered gem of Carmarthenshire county, home comforts combine with the carefully nurtured natural world to create a truly memorable experience. Oreo the Mongolian ger is perfect for families, adventurers on two legs or two wheels and those who just want to relax in beautiful unspoiled countryside.

With sustainability at heart, Oreo is lovingly handcrafted locally using wood sourced from just a few miles away. This traditional hideaway is furnished with everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The double bed will be fully made up ready for your arrival and the comfortable day bed quickly and easily converts into two full-size single beds. Cosy blankets and cushions are a special added touch and even more so when you learn that they are made from the fleece of “your” very own alpaca – look for the photo of Oreo in the ger! The wood burning stove will keep you warm and toasty on cooler days and when darkness falls, draw the curtains and indulge in a spot of star-gazing through the fabulous clear crown skylight. In the mini-kitchen area, you will find a two ring camp cooker with a kettle, pots, pans and crockery and everything you need to rustle up a simple meal while the state-of-the-art cool box with ice packs will keep food cool for up to 72 hours.

Outside, there is plenty of tree-stump seating (sourced from on site, of course) around the firebowl and this sociable gathering place is the perfect spot to chill and relax while taking in the beautiful views of the River Pib and Brechfa Forest beyond. The picnic table with bench seating offers a relaxed space for al fresco dining – make sure your chef makes use of the herbs generously planted around Oreo!

The meadow that leads down to the river is eco-sensitively managed to provide a diverse habitat for the local wildlife. Mown paths through it will lead you down to the play area near the river and this securely fenced space is the perfect place for children - there is even a selection of outside toys to keep them occupied, should they tire of adventuring.

In the fabulous facilities block, you’ll find a kitchenette with shared fridge and freezer, a microwave and kettle and complimentary tea, coffee and sugar, plus a sink with hot and cold running water where you can do your washing-up. There is a private bathroom with the yurt, this includes; a shower, basin and flushing WC. There is also an additional flushing WC. For those late-night visits, there are two additional state-of-the-art waterless WCs located near the gers, with solar powered battery lighting – the access paths are lit as you approach. A wash down area and secure bike storage for up to four bikes is available.

Your alpaca

Oreo is charming with oodles of charisma and he loves a cuddle. His fleece is silky soft and has been spun into wool which has been woven into the blanket that dresses your bed.

You are warmly encouraged to introduce yourself to "your" alpaca!

If you would like to book two gers together, Neptune and Ollie are ideal. For larger groups of 12, Oreo, Ollie and Georgie can be booked together.
