The location is great, and everything on paper seemed fine...but then we arrived. While the owner let us in an hour early, it was clear that the house needed a deep clean, and it was (is?) just not fit for purpose as a holiday home. Thin, office-type blinds rather than curtains in every bedroom (our first job on holiday was to go out and buy black-out blinds), the kitchen was filthy, and the open fireplace that was boasted about on the website was out of use (we were only informed when we arrived...on that, expect to receive an informal (probably not Sykes-approved) set of instructions about what you should and should not do in the property when you arrive, including not to use the fireplace (which the owner has since said broke the day before we arrived). There was insufficient crockery for a couple, never mind a family, no wheelie bins (you had to text the owner for him to collect them), a kitchen bin (in the height of Summer), and the beautiful views that are promised on the website are in fact of a dilapidated caravan full of garden rubbish and a garden that is in desperate need of TLC. This house has potential, but is simply not fit to be rented out for £1000+ now, or for the foreseeable future. If you want to see my evidence, have a look at my photos on Trip Advisor. Really poor. Sorry.
