About this property

Cabbage Patch is a sweet little holiday cottage on Anglesey that makes for a cosy, romantic retreat for a couple. Inside, the fire keeps things cosy and the seating area outside allows for a little nightcap in the evening. You’ve got walks on your doorstep and you’re not far from Rhoscolyn beach. There’s even a brilliant gastro pub, the White Eagle, within walking distance. Cabbage Patch truly is the ideal couples retreat!

You will enter into a lovely open plan living area. To your left is the cosy seating area with a sofa in front of a sweet little woodburner. To the right, in front of the large window, is a dining table and chairs, ideal for a leisurely brunch or relaxing supper. The kitchen is straight ahead and will make self-catering a breeze with a microwave, dishwasher, cooker and fridge.

To the left for the kitchen is a walkway which leads through to the double bedroom and an ensuite shower room which also has a loo and wash hand basin.

The garden is enclosed and offers an ideal, peaceful place to sit and relax with a book and your glass of wine - maybe even a cheeky Pimm’s on a sunny summer’s afternoon? The choice is yours!

This holiday cottage is in an ideal location for those wanting both relaxation and a fun-filled break- activities, beaches, attractions and fab places to eat are all close by.

If you’re part of a larger party, or looking for a group getaway, Cabbage Patch can be booked with neighbouring Plas, which sleeps 10. There is also Plas Bach opposite which sleeps a further 2. It is easily integrated into the living space of Plas if required, but there is a separate entrance to provide a private and romantic getaway for two.

Located on Holy Island, three miles from Trearddur Bay, Rhoscolyn is a small village with a church and primary school and is the most southerly place on Holy Island. Rhoscolyn also offers an excellent pub on the lane down to the beach, which is renowned for its gastro food, and the beach itself with its slipway, ideal for small dinghies and power boats, is a popular family destination throughout the summer owing to the sheltered cove and gently sloping sands. Also excellent cliff-top walks can be enjoyed and an abundance of wildlife can be seen, often including seals on the headland. Just two miles away is the village of Valley, which has a Post Office, chemist, shops and eating places, plus the nearby resort of Trearddur Bay is situated on the western shore of the island and is truly beautiful with a great sweep of low grassy coastline indented with rocky coves and fine Blue Flag sandy beaches. There are shops, pubs and restaurants in Trearddur Bay itself and nearby Holyhead offers a wider range of amenities, including a very good leisure centre, supermarkets, harbour front, a marina, the world’s second longest breakwater and exciting day trips to Dublin on the ferry. Watersports, bathing, sailing, windsurfing and horse riding are the main activities in the summer months, plus golfers will enjoy the excellent Holyhead 18 hole links golf course, and the area is also a great place for nature lovers with renowned birdwatching at the South Stack Lighthouse rspb Reserve. An excellent location with plenty to see and do!

The property is in a fantastic location with breathtaking views and the kitchen area and bathroom were clean, but the property desperately needs some attention and care. Lots of dust and cobwebs and general wear & tear/tired etc. We could have got over all this, however, the WORST thing for us though were the mice! They kept us awake all night in the bedroom roof space. It was so loud and very off putting, to the point we left a day early. The response from Menai Holidays was awful, a lesson in how not to deal with complaints! Made us feel like we made it up or exaggerated and wasn’t enough of an issue ‘to warrant a walk out’!!! Despite 2 nights of literally no sleep! Apparently the pest controller found no evidence of rodents inside or outside the property. We can assure you there is definitely a significant issue in the roof space, so only book here if that won’t bother you. For me though, the property shouldn’t be rented out to paying guests with issues like this and they should listen to customer feedback, not dismiss it as unimportant or lies! I completely understand the property is old and in the countryside and there will be mouse issues at times, but this should be dealt with to avoid customer complaints. Also strange they claim there’s no mouse issue but the property has ultrasonic vermin repellers plugged in both rooms (which I know from experience don’t work effectively anyway!) I definitely wouldn’t book again now due to the way our complaint was handled.

Stocked with all that was needed. Good base for walking and visiting island. Appreciated big fluffy bath towels and lots of hot water. Would book again.

Also since the letting has been taken over by Menai it all feels a bit bossy and impersonal - having to be out by 9.00 a.m. on the morning of departure rather early - most places it's 10.00 and didn't welcome an email, towards the end of our stay detailing how we should clean up - we'd already read all that in the instructions to visitors.
