About this property

Located on the south east corner of Anglesey, this early 18th Century farmhouse is now a holiday cottage full of character and charm. It is right on the coastal footpath making it perfect for walking.Marian Farm is in a peaceful location with gorgeous sea views. Used as a writer's retreat and family bolthole, the furnishings have been gathered over time and are a comfortable blend of antique and modern.

The stunning, double-height eat-in kitchen has a definite ‘wow’ factor. Fitted in a simple style with hand-built larder, reclaimed wooden cupboards, a dresser and a butcher's block, it also has a large fridge-freezer, microwave, toaster, range-style gas cooker and excellent range of cooking utensils. There is an extendable oak dining table with seating for six. You can also eat in the conservatory.

The sitting room is a lovely, cosy, room with wood-burning stove set in a large inglenook with an original ship's beam over it. The window-seat, reclining sofa, armchairs, flat-screen TV, iPod dock and Bluetooth speaker make this a perfect place to curl up with a good book! A small study area under the stairs includes books, maps and boxed CDs. There are stunning views of the sea and sunsets from this room and it is great for board games, evening drinks and informal suppers. There is a sturdy table, cane chairs, and French windows that open on to the patio.

Beyond this is another quiet seating area with a sofa.

There is a beautifully refurbished bathroom on the ground floor with a gloriously powerful shower (in a cubicle), bath, loo, wash basin, heated towel rail and underfloor heating.

Also downstairs is a rack for boots and clobber, and a washing machine is located in the 'Dairy' outside the back door.

Stairs from the sitting room lead to charming double and twin bedrooms featuring angled ceiling and ultra-comfortable beds.

Another good-sized double bedroom is reached up narrow, steep stairs from the kitchen via a very low door. There is an adjoining loo with a wash-hand basin, a lobby area and door (with no steps) to the garden. This bedroom is only suitable for those nimble enough for steep stairs and low entrance, although it can be accessed without any hazards from the outside.

Outside there is a large walled, natural and wild-flower garden with grassed areas, apple trees, patio area and sea views. There is a fire-pit with seating suitable for summer BBQs. Garden furniture includes a bench-picnic table, hammock and stand, movable tables, chairs and loungers.

The woodshed houses the logs but is also a favourite sitting spot.

An array of badminton, croquet and other games are stored indoors.

As with many of our rural properties access is down a rough track.

Please note that, due to practical and eco reasons, towels are NOT provided, but in special circumstances, for example for guests from overseas, towel hire can be arranged.

Pretty Penmon Priory, the fascinating ruins of Castell Aberlleiniog, and pebbly White Beach are all close by, as are excellent fishing spots and bird watching areas. Just pull on your boots and walk from the door in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

A short drive takes you to the woods around Henllys Hall where red squirrels thrive. Beaumaris, just 7 minutes away, is an attractive town with great restaurants, pubs, cafes and a castle. Gorgeous beaches such as Benllech, Red Wharf Bay and Llanddonna are all within easy reach.

Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at the south-eastern corner of the Isle of Anglesey, Penmon looks out across the Menai Strait towards the magnificent mountains of Snowdonia. Close by is Puffin Island, where puffins do indeed nest. They, as well as seals and porpoises and many other water fowl can be viewed from a boat trip starting from Beaumaris. Heritage lovers will enjoy discovering the historic Penmon Priory, a 13th Century Augustinian House complete with its original holy well and curious dovecote. At Black Point, near the lighthouse, the Pilot House Cafe serves coffe, teas, lunches and ice creams. Nearby White Beach is a large pebble cove and the coastal path winds via a nature reserve and scenic cliff path all the way to the open sands of Red Wharf Bay. The village of Llangoed has a shop with Post Office counter. Picturesque Beaumaris has a 13th Century moated castle, a pier, small independent shops, a gallery, exhibitions and a wide choice of bars, cafes and restaurants.
