Borve 1 mile. Marabhat Lodge 1 is set in the rural countryside of Barvas, near Borve on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, and looks out over the island's wild scenery. With only two beds, this lodge is ideal for a romantic couple’s vacation for those who wish to discover the island's history and landscapes before retiring to a comfy bed. A wooden lodge, charming and tasteful, welcomes you home after a long day of touring, providing simple off-road parking and an appealing facility to relax in for the evening.
Once you step into the lodge, you'll discover that everything is open plan except the bathroom, making it the ideal budget escape for anyone looking for a place to sleep after spending the majority of their day exploring the many activities on offer.
Featuring tweed decorations and local artwork, including a large piece of tree above the king-size bed, you will feel connected to the heritage of the island and will marvel at how such a small space provides such an amply fitted kitchen; perfect for you and your partner to cook up a storm. Then you can enjoy a romantic meal either at the inside table or on the decking area, and when sleep calls, recline in the king-size bed, bringing a touch of opulence to the space. Enjoy a refreshing morning shower in the home-from-home bathroom, marvelling at how the essentials of this lodge tick all the boxes for a perfect highland adventure. Indulge in a glass of your favourite beverage on the decking as the sun sets. There is no shortage of attractions on the Isle of Lewis, including a variety of beautiful sandy beaches where you can try out wild-swimming, watersports, and hiking, or relax with a picnic and your significant other whilst taking in the salty air; one such beach is the well-known Eoropie Beach. The lodge offers a perfect base for exploration of the many historical sites available, including the Butt of Lewis lighthouse and geological site with some of the oldest stones in Europe, Calanais Standing Stones and visitors' centre and a selection of museums including Comunn Eachdraidh Nis. The nearby town of Borve is a great place to stop off at to stock up on essentials and enjoy a bite to eat at the Borve House Hotel whilst a little further away the Port of Ness will supply you with a selection of shops, pubs, cafes including The Wobbly Dog of Lewis, and harbour walks, allowing you to indulge in the scenery and the wildlife of the area. Stornoway is also a convenient drive away, offering local tweed, pottery, and craft shops. With so much to explore, Marabhat Lodge 1 will be the perfect base for a couple’s holiday you and your significant other will love. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert, or Ullapool to Stornoway.
With an intriguing little harbour backed by a jagged headland, merging into an east-facing beach, the Port of Ness rests at the northern tip of the Isle of Lewis. Offering an insight into the legends, lore and long-observed traditions that have shaped the island’s identity, this community, in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, is a stronghold of the Gaelic language. Harbour View Gallery is where you will find some of locally-based artist Anthony J Barber's works on view. Cross boasts an inn that looks slightly out of place, along with one of the brightest and most cheerful looking post offices you'll find anywhere. From the nearby Butt of Lewis you can look out across the unforgiving waters of the Atlantic and stand in the shadow of a Stevenson lighthouse built of red brick. Take in the breath-taking scenery from the Isle of Lewis' northernmost point, surrounded by the swells of an ever-rising sea. The Butt of Lewis features some of the oldest rocks in Europe, having been formed in the Precambrian period. Discover Dùn Èistean, an archaeological site on the north east coast, showcasing the ruins of two large buildings amongst grassy tussocks. Stornoway is just 40 minutes away by car, with a busy working harbour, selection of shops selling local gifts including Harris Tweed and award-winning restaurants selling locally sourced food. Visit Lews Castle Grounds and the iconic Lews Castle as well as museums and art galleries. This beautiful location is for those looking to get out and explore the rural landscapes and fascinating Scottish heritage the Isle of Lewis has to offer.
