Guests that stayed at this property said

Cleanliness has been a recurring concern among guests, with several reviews mentioning the need for a more thorough cleaning regime. Issues such as dust, cobwebs, and signs of a rodent presence have been noted, detracting from the overall experience.

The cottage's location is highly praised for its seclusion, stunning views, and proximity to nature and wildlife. The remote setting offers peace and quiet, although the access track may be challenging for some vehicles.

Guests have found the cottage to be cosy and comfortable, particularly highlighting the warmth from the radiators and log burner. However, some have mentioned that the furnishings could be updated for enhanced comfort.

The facilities have received mixed reviews. While some guests are satisfied with the rustic charm, others have suggested that the cottage requires maintenance and modernisation, including improvements to the windows, kitchen equipment, and TV signal.

Several guests have appreciated the thoughtful gestures of welcome gifts, which have added a personal touch to their stay. However, it is politely noted that such gifts are not guaranteed and may vary.

About this property

Balmeanoch is a quaint cottage set on the hillside, on the quiet shore of Loch Earn. The property provides a great base for a family or group of friends to explore Scotland’s southern Highlands. After a long hike in the hills, return to the cosy Balmeanoch. Take off any coats and boots in the porch and head into the living room. Recline on the sofa, putting your feet up by the woodburner while discussing the day’s events. Once you feel thoroughly revived, move into the kitchen/diner and cook up a delicious home-cooked meal to enjoy at the kitchen table, or in better weather, at the chairs and table outside on the patio. Downstairs you will find a double bedroom, with a twin and a single bedroom upstairs, all offering a great place to rest your head. There is a family bathroom on the ground floor as well as a WC by the porch. Step out into the garden and you can enjoy the fantastic views of fields and hills, as well as the peace and quiet. The property is a short distance from the village of Lochearnhead, located as the name suggests, at the head of Loch Earn. The village is a popular location for water sports such as sailing, water-skiing, wake-boarding, sailing and canoeing, fishing as well as three 9 Hole and two 18 hole Golf Courses around Crieff and Callander . Nearby you will also find Ben Vorlich, a 985m-high hill that offers beautiful views of the North and West. Escape with your loved ones to this homely Scotland cottage. If you are looking for a historical property with features and quirks or a property of age, Balmeanoch is the place for you . EPC Rating: Band G

From the steep farm track, to the splendid isolation - exactly what we wanted. If you’re a fuss pot or worried about driving up a farm track then maybe don’t bother….we 100% will be re-booking this gem of a place - total BLISS. Thank you to the owners for sharing Balmeanoch and thank you for the local goodies !

It was peaceful and felt like home away from home. Only thing I would mention is a few dead bugs hanging from the ceiling but didn't bother us. The rest of the house was spotless. We will definitely be returning.

The landlords are very nice and were always available for us. Unfortunately, the cottage was in a shabby condition and could have been cleaner. However, if that doesn't bother you, you can have a great, quiet holiday here.
