Capercaillie Cottage is a bright and roomy modern cottage on the award-winning Portnellan Estate that looks out over private gardens across Loch Dochart to the castle ruin on the island and pleasant walks along the old dismantled railway line.  This elegant modern cottage has been built specifically for larger groups and families on the holiday market and supplies everything you need for a real luxury stay. 

Living Space

With a brand new for 2018 spacious open plan kitchen with large breakfast bar leading to a dining area. French doors lead to a large living area with wrap around leather suite and a sliding, double glazed patio door leading to a private patio with garden furniture, BBQ (available to hire) and unrestricted views over Loch Dochart, Glen Dochart and the castle ruin on the island. A truly magnificent Highland setting and a view that will be hard to beat from a self catering holiday property in Scotland.

Facilities include an entertainment system with 37″ LCD TV with SKY TV package, Blu Ray DVD and unlimited WiFi use.

Bedrooms / Bathrooms

Comprising of 4 spacious bedrooms, 3 of which are doubles located upstairs and a twin bedroom with ensuite facilities designed with a walk in wet room located downstairs. It is the perfect property should anyone in your group prefer reaching their sleeping quarters without stairs. 

There is a king-size double sleigh bed in the master bedroom plus an ensuite shower, a king-size double bedroom and a further double bedroom with a shared family bathroom.  A downstairs twin bedroom has large beeds and an ensuite walk in shower wet room.

Fine cotton bed linen and double glazing.

A cot and highchair can be made available at no extra cost.

Vacuum cleaner, iron, ironing board and a clothes horse.

Games room.

An optional Tempur Mattress topper can be provided for a small extra charge.

Visitor centre with free DVDs, board games, local maps and information which guests are welcome to use.

We can arrange outdoor activities including clay pigeon shooting, mountain bike hire and target shooting for you at an additional charge.

Free canoes and boats are available to use onsite - perfect for a day on the water around local lochs and rivers.

Buy fresh organic meat produce sourced from a nearby farm at reception.

Situated in the beautiful northern reaches of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, The Otter is ideal for walking, climbing, fishing and boating holidays.  Ben More is adjacent to Portnellan and a top spot for Geocaching.  Portnellan also has its own castle ruin located on a small island on Loch Dochart. 

Popular local whisky distilleries include the Famous Grouse distillery, Dewar's of Aberfeldy and Scotland's smallest distillery Bells.  Enjoy 5 miles of free loch and river fishing on the estate, and easy access to an extensive choice of local activities from open water swimming, cycling and golf to horse riding, birdwatching and hill walking on surrounding munros.
