Snaptrip says

Kennels Cottage in Melrose is highly praised for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and well-equipped nature, offering a comfortable stay in a peaceful and central location. Guests appreciate the proximity to good restaurants and the suitability of the cottage as a base for exploring the Scottish Borders. Some minor maintenance issues are noted, but overall, the cottage receives positive remarks for its comfort and the thoughtful touches provided by the hosts.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests find the cottage to be immaculately clean, with only a few mentioning the need for a deeper clean or issues with specific items. The positive remarks far outweigh the negatives, indicating a high standard of cleanliness overall.

The location is frequently described as great, quiet, peaceful, and central, with easy access to local towns and amenities. It is well-regarded as a base for touring the Borders, with good bus services and roads for sightseeing.

Guests generally find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, though some mention issues with sloping ceilings and furniture placement affecting comfort. The presence of two bathrooms and king-size beds are often highlighted as positive aspects.

The cottage is praised for being well-equipped with a kitchen, appliances, and Wi-Fi. However, some guests report maintenance issues such as plumbing problems, broken fixtures, and a need for clearer instructions for appliances, which slightly lowers the score.

Several guests mention the thoughtful touch of being welcomed with home-baked scones, butter, jam, and milk. While these gifts are warmly received, it is important to note that such personal touches, though delightful, may not be guaranteed for every stay.

We are up regularly seeing family and friends and this will be our go-to holiday let of choice. Great location- not flash or perfect but homely and welcoming. Thank you.

However, the property does require some maintenance. For example, the upstairs toilet seat is beginning to fall apart at one of the hinges, the downstairs shower requires re-sealing and a very good clean. On the plus side, the cottage is well-equipped. St Boswell is a great location for visiting the borders and, if you wish, Edinburgh via a park-and-ride railway station 6 miles away at Tweedbank. The cottage is located in a quiet area. Overall, if these issues are fixed, we would recommend staying there.
