Cosy, well -equipped cottage in very peaceful location at the end of a track on a working farm. Great view from the cottage of hills and sheep. Very welcoming owners on site. Lots of info in cottage for things to do/visit.Lots to see in local area. Pub with meals and T/A service 2 miles away. Thoroughly recommend for those seeking peaceful rural retreat. (Note, no Wi-Fi).

Our stay at Heathfield Cottage was a last-minute decision; as it turned out, it was a great decision. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable; there is seating in the front garden and on the rear verandah, which we made full use of during the warm weather. Our 2 Labradors had plenty of space to play; there was even an adjacent woodland for them to explore. Heathfield lies at the end of a farm track; we arrived at Dykes farmyard, where Gavin showed us the track down to the cottage. We loved the remoteness of Heathfield Cottage, the quietness, and the views across the countryside; it is a perfect place to relax and unwind. A mobile signal in the cottage is a problem; although we were able to get a mobile signal on the kitchen worktop next to the back door, there was a good 4G connection outside in the gardenAlison and Gavin were wonderful hosts; they offered any assistance my wife may have needed, while I left her and the dogs for a few days whilst supporting our son who was competing in 'The Race Across Scotland'. The cottage being within a couple of miles of good 'A' and 'B' roads, makes a good base to travel around the southern uplands.Thank you, Alison and Gavin, for a lovely break; we are sure to return.

Extremely rural, and quiet. No mobile signal. Wooden floors creak every time you walk on them. Mattress a little soft if you like a firm bed. Very rough track from farm to cottage roughly about 1/4 mile.
