Most guests found Heathfield Cottage to be clean and homely. However, one review mentioned the need for a deep clean and attention to certain areas, slightly lowering the score.
The cottage's remote, tranquil setting surrounded by nature and close to picturesque towns is highly valued by guests, contributing to a high score for location.
Guests describe the cottage as cosy, comfortable, and well-equipped, providing a restful stay. The presence of creaky floorboards is noted but does not significantly detract from the overall comfort.
The facilities are generally appreciated, especially the well-equipped kitchen. However, suggestions for a proper shower installation, better Wi-Fi, and maintenance of outdoor areas indicate room for improvement.

We stayed at Heathfield with our dog for a week in early September 2025 and had a lovely stay. Being at the end of a farm track the cottage is quite remote but at the same time we felt so relaxed there and enjoyed the open aspect and the feeling of being amongst nature. There was no WiFi in the cottage but we were able to get a good 4G connection just outside of the cottage and so we certainly did not feel out of touch. The nearest village, Denholm, was a lovely place with a general store, a butcher, a pub and two cafes. There were lovely walks near the cottage and we also enjoyed visiting some of the nearby towns in the borders. We particularly liked Kelso, Melrose, Peebles and Jedburgh.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Heathfield is a beautiful cottage in gorgeous countryside and is well equipped and comfortable. We received a warm welcome from the owner on arrival together with some delicious treats. The cottage is extremely well situated for visiting the Scottish Border towns and villages. The additional bonus of allowing us to bring our dogs made our holiday a very happy one.
