About this property

Duns 6 miles. A pretty two-bedroom bungalow resting on the edge of the peaceful village of Swinton, just a few miles away from the border town of Duns, Kelso and nearby Berwick-Upon-Tweed and Coldstream. Gordon Lodge is a heart-warming retreat for anyone seeking a relaxing break to an area framed by rolling hills, beautiful lochs, historical landmarks and a vast array of attractions to explore. Upon entering the property, be welcomed into the spacious kitchen/diner area, switch on the kettle, make a brew and relax. Here you and your loved ones can gather to enjoy a meal prepared within the well-equipped kitchen, which comes with all the essentials you need to cater for yourselves during your stay, including a dishwasher and a washing machine. Stepping across the hall, you enter into an inviting lounge, where you can unwind for the evening watching TV or plan your itinerary for the next day. A short walk along the hall will find the two well-presented bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, both with double built-in wardrobes. Next you will find a good-sized bathroom with a walk-in electric shower, basin with nearby shaver points, WC and large heated towel rail. During the summer months, you can spend a balmy afternoon within the garden, where a spot of alfresco dining can be enjoyed with a nice barbecue and a glass of wine. Your canine companion will enjoy frolicking around the spacious garden. If you don’t feel like cooking one evening, venture along the road a short distance into the village, where you will find the Wheatsheaf Hotel. There you will be able to eat in its award-winning restaurant or enjoy less formal dining in the bar area. Further afield, you will find a selection of pubs serving food, as well as restaurants and takeaways to choose from. The small town of Duns is only 6-miles away, here you will find a local Co-Op, butcher, bakery, cafes and other small businesses. It also has a golf course on the outskirts of the town. Coldstream, just on the England/Scotland border and separated by the beautiful River Tweed, has an array of small shops, cafes and a Co-Op. Visit the Coldstream Guards Museum and the Hirsel Estate for lovely walks. The beautiful border town of Kelso, situated right beside the Tweed is within easy reach. Here you will find many different restaurants, cafes and other food outlets, including Sainsbury’s and Lidl. Alternatively, head to the larger town of Berwick-Upon-Tweed, where you will find further main food outlets, M&S Simply Food, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, ASDA and an Aldi, plus other amenities and attractions. Gordon Lodge is an idyllic retreat for spending time within this picturesque location in the Scottish Borders. EPC Rating: Band B

The ancient community of Norham is most known for Turner's 1845 painting of the magnificent Norman Castle remains above the River Tweed. The village includes a good butcher and bakery, a Post Office, a grocer, a newsagent, and two pubs, one of which has an award-winning restaurant. Very warm and comfortable. The shower was very inviting until you switched it on, there was little flow, I assume due to lower pressure. The grass was very long which with a sausage dog who could hardly be seen outside

it was so spacious and it felt more like a home. plenty to do in the surrounding areas. the kitchen was well equipped all in all just a stunning place to stay. the owners thought of everything

No complaints. Worked out really well for our family. My youngest wants to go back. Was very impressed with all of the amenities in the home. Most holiday stays you are short on basic kitchen items. Very nice welcome basket and very comfortable beds. Lot of extra effort and quality/costs put into the home instead of buying basic items.
