About this property
This beautifully situated property is the perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore the magnificent area.
A hillside idyll, Over Blairish Cottage lies in a spectacular elevated position and boasts far-reaching, rural views of the River Lyon and the Tay Valley from every room and provides the perfect balance between contemporary comforts and a rustic country charm, making it a welcoming escape for couples, families or a small group of friends. The secluded spot is rich in wildlife with red squirrels, deer, pheasants, hares, owls, woodpeckers and buzzards, that all make a regular appearance.
Over Blairish Cottage is situated on the hillside above the attractive hamlet of Keltneyburn at the entrance to Glen Lyon. This little detached cottage, in a private location in the owner’s grounds, is accessed via a private track which is steep and bumpy in places and may not be suitable for very low slung cars or timid drivers. Located in Highland Perthshire, Over Blairish Cottage enjoys all the benefits of being in the Highlands whilst remaining accessible.
The main attraction of the area is the stunning scenery, which includes some of Scotland’s best known beauty spots, including Glen Lyon, Kenmore and Loch Tay, Schiehallion and Ben Lawers. For the adventurous, canyoning, quad biking, white water rafting and further water sports are available at a purpose built centre at Loch Tay. Highland Perthshire has many stunning walks and cycle paths, with routes available right from the doorstep through sssi countryside, which features an orchid rich wildflower meadow and gorge woodland. Salmon and trout fishing are available on the Rivers Lyon, Tummel and Tay. There are golf courses at Aberfeldy, Kenmore, Strathtay, Taymouth Castle, Dunkeld and Pitlochry, and the picturesque local towns also benefit from some excellent independent cafes, restaurants, shops, art galleries and studios. Castles, crannogs and stone circles also scatter the local area for fans of Scottish history. Foodies shouldn’t feel left out with award-winning coffee shops, chocolatiers, smoked salmon and distilleries all in the immediate vicinity as well as regular local farmers’ markets. The area is fortunate to enjoy a vibrant live music scene. As well as numerous Highland Games and the renowned Aberfeldy festival, lively music sessions are held in local hotels, bars, community centres and cinema/theatres throughout the year. Beach 3 miles. "A warm, cosy cottage with everything we needed. Our hosts had also left us out some chocolates, fresh coffee beans, tea, coffee and fresh milk as well as several treats for our two dogs. There were plenty of plates, glasses etc and we were told to help ourselves from the wood shed. There was also central heating, plenty of cleaning materials (including washing machine and dishwasher tablets), blankets if we got chilly, plenty of loo rolls/kitchen roll, night lights to make the place look cosy and, probably the biggest benefit, a fantastic view, especially to the front of the cottage. We weren't disturbed but knew we could call for help or advice, if we needed it.A beautiful cottage that suited us well for our 4 night stay.Would definitely book again."
"Superb location for a break, fabulous views from cosy and comfortable cottage and the owners couldn't be more helpful. One small drawback is that the approach drive is very steep on an unmade road, so a vehicle with offroading capability is an advantage to getting up the hill."
"Over Blairish Cottage is the perfect place for a wonderful holiday in central Scotland. The location of the cottage is very private with stunning views but still within a short drive (10-40 minutes) there are so many opportunities not only for lovely river, wood, loch and mountain walks but also for visiting sights like the Dewar's distillery, castle Menzies, the Scottish Crannog Centre, etc.The cottage itself is full of character and the eye for detail gives the cottage just that little extra to set it apart from others, the welcoming package even included treats for the dog.Our favourite place in the cottage has to be the small conservatory at the front of the cottage. We started every day in the conservatory enjoying not only our breakfast but also the amazing views and the wildlife."
"We had a lovely stay at Over Blairish cottage. Jan and Mike were great and the cottage is set in a beautiful location and so well appointed and kitted out. The fact that that had clearly given a lot of thought as to what is useful in the cottage for peoples stay made it that much more relaxing as we didn’t have to want for things (which I have from other cottage rentals) that make it so much smoother while there. The rooms were all of an excellent size and extremely clean. The added benefit of a travel cot for us made life so much easier too.We would definitely recommend booking here if you are exploring the area."
"It was absolutely lovely and the owners are wonderful people too. Would highly recommend staying here."
