Guests say

The Cottage in Perth is a charming and cosy property, praised for its quiet, wildlife-rich location and comfortable furnishings. Guests appreciate the idyllic surroundings, the welcoming atmosphere, and the convenience for sightseeing. While some guests mention minor issues with cleanliness and maintenance, the overall experience is positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Guests have expressed concerns about cleanliness, noting cobwebs, dirty skirting boards, and unsatisfactory kitchen items. However, these issues seem to be occasional rather than consistent across reviews.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, natural beauty, and proximity to local sights and amenities, making it an ideal spot for a peaceful retreat.

The majority of guests find the cottage comfortable, with spacious rooms and comfortable furniture. Some concerns were raised about heating and bathroom temperature, but overall comfort is well-regarded.

Facilities are generally appreciated, especially the generous heating and lovely shower. However, there are comments about the woodburner being unusable and central heating on a timer, which suggests room for improvement in maintenance.

Guests mention nice extras provided by the hosts, such as a welcome basket, which adds a thoughtful touch to their stay. It should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, may not be guaranteed for every visit.

About this property

This 300-year-old cottage is surrounded by beautiful countryside, which can be explored on foot or by bike.. This delightful, detached holiday cottage, built 300 years ago as a farm workers’ home, has been lovingly renovated and is situated in the garden of the owners’ home, but is completely private and has its own garden. Accessed by a rough track, the cottage is located in the heart of rural Perthshire with uninterrupted views overlooking the surrounding countryside, yet is only 10 miles from the centre of historic Perth, with its museum, art gallery, theatre and shopping. This is an excellent base from which to explore the countryside, with its abundance of walks on quiet country lanes, cycling on dedicated cycle paths, golf and history. Close by is the River Tay, famous for salmon fishing, and the Tay’s tributary rivers (Isla, Ericht, Braan, Lyon, Almond and Dochart) all offer further opportunities for fishing. Gleneagles is a 30-minute drive, whilst St Andrews, Glasgow and Edinburgh can be reached in an hour. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.. 1 step to entrance.

Such a lovely cottage and in a great quiet spot with wildlife around. I have no complaints. The only thing I needed which was not there was a proper cork screw - so many bottles are screw tops , but I'm a posh bird :-)Still , I managed and if that is the only thing I can come up with as a problem, then it is no problem at all.

Lovely cottage in a very quiet, pretty location on a farm, yet handy for the A9 and Perth. Spacious rooms with comfortable furniture, lovely shower, and generous heating. Only criticism was with cleanliness - ceiling in sitting room had lots of cobwebs, the skirting boards were very mucky, pillows & mattress were without protectors…and the dishcloths were horrid! As was the grill tray. And as has been mentioned previously the woodburner is unusable. Such a shame as otherwise the cottage would be perfect - but as it isn’t expensive I guess you have to overlook these niggles.
