Guests say

Craigmore Cottage receives high praise for its beautiful setting, cosy atmosphere, and excellent walking opportunities from the doorstep. Guests consistently mention the warm welcome from the host, Mark, and the well-equipped, spotless interiors. The cottage is ideally located for exploring Dunkeld and the surrounding area, with easy access to local attractions and public transport. Some guests note the access road is narrow with a steep hairpin bend, and the upstairs bedroom has low ceilings, but these do not detract from the overall positive experience.

Multiple reviews highlight the cottage as very clean, spotless, and well-maintained throughout. No negative comments regarding cleanliness were found.

The location is frequently described as stunning, peaceful, and ideal for walks and exploring Dunkeld. Proximity to the train station and local attractions is a plus. The only minor drawbacks mentioned are the steep access road and some traffic noise from the nearby A9.

Guests find the cottage warm, cosy, and comfortable, with quality beds and linens. Some mention the downstairs bedroom can be cool in wet weather, and the upstairs bedroom has low ceilings and basic mattresses, but overall comfort is rated highly.

The cottage is described as well-equipped, with modern bathrooms, a spacious living room, and a well-stocked kitchen. A few guests noted limited cutlery and the need for mattress toppers upstairs, but these are minor points in otherwise positive feedback.

The host, Mark, is repeatedly praised for being friendly, helpful, and responsive, offering recommendations and assistance when needed. While guests felt very welcome, there is no mention of gifts, so guests should note that such gestures are not guaranteed.

The Cottage was excellent, had everything you need for a short break. The host, Mark, was really helpful and unobtrusive. Lovely quiet location. Plenty to do in the area too.I would highly recommend a stay at Craigmore Cottage.

Fantastic place. The owner, Mark, was absolutely lovely — friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. The location is perfect for walks into Birnam Woods and only a short stroll into Dunkeld. It’s a beautiful part of the world, and I always enjoy visiting the Dunkeld/Birnam area. The cottage is very close to the train station, which makes it ideal if you want to travel to Edinburgh or other parts of Scotland without relying on a car. It’s also conveniently near the A9 if you are driving. The only downside for me was the very steep bank leading to the cottage. Most people with no mobility issues will be absolutely fine, but I do have problems with my legs, so going up and down hills can be difficult. I’m aware that others will likely manage it without any trouble — after all, most people come to this area for the walking. The road up to the cottage is a single-track road with a very steep, tight hairpin bend. It took several attempts to get the car around it, both going up and coming back down, which did put us off driving during the stay. That said, there are plenty of walks straight from the cottage, so you don’t really need to use the car unless you want to go sightseeing. With the train station nearby and buses running through Dunkeld and Birnam, you have good alternatives if you prefer not to drive once you’ve parked.
