These two gorgeous properties are delightfully set on the owner’s sheep farm, on the outskirts of Kirkmichael. Set amongst a mixture of woodland and open fields there are views towards the Strathardle Hills and the Pitlochry Hills, with the Cairngorms further northand in the surrounding fields, horses graze peacefully. Both are superbly positioned to take full advantage of the surrounding scenery in this stunning part of Scotland. Stylish and bright with light, contemporary fittings, they have been cleverly designed to make good use of the available space and their warm and cosy interiors ensure comfort throughout the year. Boreland Cabin is an elevated property with a wooden balcony to the front overlooking the attractive gardens. The grounds are a wildlife paradise with red squirrels, deer, woodpeckers and cuckoos regularly seen and heard. Both are within walking distance of the local inn, ideal for a quiet drink or meal. The village of Kirkmichael has a good shop and café and is just 12 miles equidistant from Blairgowrie and Pitlochry, both with much to entertain the visitor – enjoy a play at the theatre, or watch the salmon leap in the fish ladder. In autumn, the Enchanted Forest is a big attraction and the Caledonian Etape attracts cyclists from all over during May. The area surrounding Kirkmichael is a walker’s paradise, with over 10 miles of waymarked paths round the village as well as being part of the Cateran Trail – a 64 mile circular walking route through some of the best scenery in Scotland. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

Spotlessly clean and well appointed property with a friendly and welcoming host. Note that the owners are currently landscaping around the cabin and you can now bring your car right to the door (I'm sure they will update the exterior photos once this is complete). Do take the opportunity to take the scenic drive over to Pitlochry Festival Theatre and the Pitlochry Dam Power Station (nice café), but be aware that many of the surrounding roads are single track and twisty so factor in extra time for any travelling you plan to do. Just a short walk will take you into Kirkmichael with a village shop/café and a pub, while passing an honesty box (really a shed) on the way for some sweet treats. I would highly recommend this property to any solo traveller or couple who are looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay away from the tourist hotspots.

Had a lovely stay, the cottage has everything you could possibly need - especially useful was the half and half fridge freezer (most places you just get a draw in the fridge which is tiny). The location is brilliant for hill walking with many different areas easily accessible. Owner was very helpful and friendly. The cottage decor was very nice too with the pictures etc. all being themed. Would definitely rent it again. Only minor negative I can think of is the towels dropped a lot of lint everywhere.

We highly recommand boreland farm cabin. The host is very kind and helpful. The cabin is perfect. Inside it's a comfortable flat with everey thing you need in a houshold. Ideally situated in a lovely little village with a shop and two pubs, in a very beautiful landscape for walks in the marvellous glens, near to two nice towns. We want to come back!!
