Guests say

Thornbank offers a spacious and well-equipped stay with stunning views and a desirable location. Guests appreciate the property's charm, including a balcony for outdoor dining and a garden. While some maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Several reviews mention cleanliness issues such as dog hair on beds, a smelly hoover, and general tiredness. These indicate a need for improvement in this area.

The location is consistently praised for its incredible views and proximity to local attractions, making it a highlight for guests.

The property is described as spacious and generally comfortable, but some reviews mention broken furniture and intermittent hot water supply, suggesting room for enhancement.

Guests are pleased with the facilities like the washing machine and dishwasher. However, maintenance issues such as peeling paint, dodgy plug sockets, and broken windows detract from the overall quality.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches from the owner that would indicate thoughtfulness, so this category cannot be scored.

House is a bit tired and one sofa and one chair in lounge were broken. Hoover had a very dirty dog smell. Paint peeling in upper bedrooms

We had a wonderful time at Thornbank. The apartment is spacious, well equipped and because it is on two floors, feels more like a house. The location was perfect with the most amazing views. We loved the balcony at the back of the property and ate all our meals out there.Whilst there were a couple of things that were in the process of being attended to (as referred to in previous reviews), the very friendly and helpful owner rang us on the day of arrival to explain this to us and they in no way impacted the enjoyment of our stay.We know this area well but it was our first time staying on Cumbrae. We really enjoyed hiring bikes and exploring the island, kayaking, the putting green at the bowling club, the Garrison, Cathedral of the Isles, and walking up to the highest point on the island for the views (which are spectacular!). We also enjoyed hopping on the bus and taking the ferry over to Largs for the day (would recommend walking down to the Yacht Haven for a meal).A perfect week and we hope to return soon!

A beautiful house in the most incredible location. It sleeps up to 8 people and offers huge value for money. We have stayed here a few times already and will definitely be back!
