Guests say

Brae Lodge is a well-loved family holiday home with stunning views of Cullen Bay and convenient proximity to local amenities. Guests appreciate the homely touches and the property's prime location, though some have suggested updates to furnishings and maintenance to enhance the overall experience.

Cleanliness has been noted as an area for improvement, with mentions of mouldy shower screens, dirty corners, and rusty bath drains. However, general surface cleanliness seems satisfactory.

The location is highly praised for its spectacular views and proximity to the beach and local attractions, making it a desirable spot for guests.

Comfort receives mixed reviews, with some guests finding the beds too hard and the living room furnishings shabby, while others have had comfortable stays.

Facilities and maintenance are areas of concern, with reports of broken oven doors, curtain hooks, and a need for upgrades to the bathroom, fridge, and freezer.

There are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts, so this category cannot be scored.

The airy, pleasant living room provides magnificent views of the Moray Firth, open the patio doors and you are onto a raised terrace on which to sit and soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the wonderful sunsets. If you are very lucky the local dolphins will provide an acrobatic display. There are two large double bedrooms one with double bed and sea view, the second has twin beds and looks over the enclosed garden.

Take a wander around Seatown and the brightly coloured cottages - a delightful, irregular clutter of homes built gable-end to the sea and with colourful painted pointing between the bricks. Explore the dramatic landscapes, from rugged cliffs to sweeping shores, sheltered coves to fishing town harbours. Cycle along the Moray Coast Cycle Trail which runs from Cullen to Burghead. Golf enthusiasts have a lovely links course practically on the doorstep, which has stunning views over the bay.

Be sure to try the local dishes including Cullen skink, a hearty chowder-like fish soup. The clear waters here are the base for a resident colony of bottlenose dolphins, and there are several companies in the vicinity running wildlife cruises, when you could also spot seals, many seabirds and even whales.

Cullen is a wonderful little village, a real treasure trove of cute shops and cafés, and a perfect place to spend some time. Elgin and Inverness can be reached easily for a day out, as well as the famous Whisky and Castle trails. Beach ¼ mile. Shop 120 yards, pub and restaurant 350 yards.

Just returned from our 3rd visit to Brae Lodge. It is a family holiday home which we have the privilege of sharing. The setting is perfect - stunning views of Cullen Bay, and the setting sun, with the shops, beach and coastal path nearby. It is well equipped with homely touches pictures and ornaments. We are pleased to read that the chair and sofa are to be replaced. Unfortunately the curtain hooks have not been replaced or have broken again On the negative we expect a better quality of bed line & towels and the pillows are stained. We are already looking forward to our visit next year
