Guests particularly enjoy the secure garden, relaxing hot tub, and proximity to beautiful beaches and local attractions. The hosts are frequently described as friendly and welcoming. While a few minor issues are mentioned, such as firm beds, occasional water pressure fluctuations, and some dated lounge furniture, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Multiple reviews highlight the cottage as spotless, extremely clean, and well maintained. Only one minor mention of hot tub water needing service, which was promptly addressed.

The location is repeatedly described as stunning, peaceful, and perfect for exploring the Highlands, with easy access to beaches, walks, and local villages. The remote setting is seen as a positive by most guests.

Guests find the cottage spacious, cosy, and comfortable, with restful beds and a relaxing atmosphere. A few mention firm mattresses and dated lounge furniture, but these are outweighed by positive comments.

The hot tub, secure garden, and well-equipped kitchen are frequently praised. Some guests note limited crockery and minor maintenance issues (e.g., water pressure, lounge furniture), but overall facilities are highly rated.

There are no specific mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches beyond friendly and helpful hosts, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

This single-storey end terraced farm cottage (whose name derives from the Scottish for farm foreman) has been extensively renovated and refurbished whilst retaining its original charm, including exposed stone walls and dry stone walling. It is set at the end of a quiet private lane on the owner’s working farm. Whilst the main living area is open plan, a sense of luxury is created with deep leather sofa suites and attractive lighting. The kitchen is accessed through an original exposed stone wall. Large canvases of the surrounding area add to the unique charm of this superbly presented cottage. Outside, a gravelled path leads out to the hot tub area, enclosed by fencing and original stone walls, it is private and secluded. A charming summer house overlooking the hot tub has comfortable outdoor dining chairs and there is a table for alfresco dining by the tub.

The charming and historic seaside village of Portmahomack has a good selection of amenities, including a shop, pub, café and two restaurants and is just 1 mile away and less than a mile from the cottage you will find Portmahomack Tarbat Golf Club. With its horseshoe shaped sandy bay and superb mountain backdrop, it is a wonderful place to walk, picnic, swim or kayak. The harbour and pier are ideal for small boats, a spot of crabbing or fishing. The region is noted for its archaeological sites and at the nearby Tarbat Discovery Centre there is a fascinating display of Pict, Norse and Medieval artefacts. There are lovely walks direct from the cottage. A trip out to the local lighthouse further along the lane is a must, with the opportunity to spot seals, dolphins and numerous seabirds. The nearby town of Tain has further excellent facilities, including restaurants, supermarkets and bars. This cottage is fantastic especially with dogs as there’s a large garden, the hot tub is great after a busy day. The cottage has everything you need if you’re cooking for yourself or not. Very clean and comfortable. This is a great base to visit anywhere in the highlands, very relaxing. The owners are friendly and very helpful. Loved it so much we’ve booked for next year.
