Around and About

The spa village of Strathpeffer grew up in the 18th Century and in 1819 the water was declared to be the healthiest in Britain. Having been restored to its former glory, the Spa Pavilion is used for various events throughout the year including concerts and exhibitions. There is a museum of childhood and working craft shops all housed in a former Victorian railway station. The pump house offers visitors a chance to ‘take the waters' and is also home to a Tourist Information point. There are forest walks to be enjoyed and a walk to the Pictish Hill Fort at the top of Knock Farril, also known as Knock Farrel, will be well rewarded with panoramic views. Strathpeffer is a fascinating base for a great holiday.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
