About this property

Have you seen the River Horse? Scottish folklore mentions a supernatural being called the River Horse, which was said to emerge from Loch Lochy and feed on its banks. A delightful open-plan first-floor apartment, River Horse View rests on the shores of Loch Lochy and offers a wonderful touring base for visiting Fort William, Isle of Skye, Loch Ness and the Nevis Range. From the front door, head up a flight of stairs into the apartment and be welcomed into an open-plan living space, immediately being drawn to the floor-to-ceiling windows framing the astounding loch views across to the munros Sron a' Choire Ghairbh and Meall na Teanga, with a sliding door opening up so you can enjoy the fresh Highland air. Relax in this idyllic spot on one of the two sofas and stream a favourite show or film on Netflix or Amazon Prime. Dine together at the glass dining table after a busy day, with a delicious meal prepared in the stylish fitted kitchen, which includes an electric oven and hob, fridge with ice box, and dishwasher among the appliances. Head through to the bedrooms to find the master bed home to a super-king-size bed and benefitting from an en-suite shower room, while the second bedroom has twin beds, which can be made into a king-size on request with zip/link features, ideal if two couples are travelling together. Completing the layout is the family bathroom, with vibrant green tiling giving it a fresh, modern feel; it houses a bath with a shower over, basin and WC. Walkers will delight at being close to the Great Glen Way and West Highland Way, two great long distance walking trails, with the Great Glen Way passing right along Loch Lochy. Discover a fantastic range of activities to enjoy with Active Highs, an outdoor activities organiser based at the northern end of Loch Lochy, you can try white water rafting, canyoning, gorge walking, rock climbing and abseiling and scenic river safari trips! Head to the Nevis Range where Britain's only mountain gondola lies, with skiing available during the winter months, or in summer take a gondola ride to the top and enjoy a trip to the café and find one if the many panoramic view points. Dine out and enjoy drinks in one of the many restaurants and bars in Spean Bridge with a welcoming Highland atmosphere, and in the day visit the Commando Memorial and venture onto one of the local forest walks. Enjoy a unique dining experience on the Caledonian Canal at Eagle Barge Inn, a restaurant and bar set on an old Dutch barge, sit on the roof deck and soak up the scenery. Discover the outdoor capital of the UK in Fort William with access to Ben Nevis and Glen Nevis from here, as well as plenty of shops and canoe and kayak rental. Make sure to visit Isle of Skye too, or try to spot the monster at Loch Ness!
