Greshornish Boathouse offers a peaceful and scenic retreat with breathtaking loch views, abundant wildlife, and a cosy atmosphere. Guests appreciate its tranquil setting, well-equipped kitchen, and proximity to Skye’s attractions. The log burner and picture window are highlights, making it ideal for relaxation. While some mention maintenance issues and the nearby fish farm, most found the property comfortable and enjoyed their stay. The remote location and lack of modern connectivity add to its charm for those seeking a true getaway.
Several guests found the property clean and tidy, but there are repeated mentions of mould in the bathroom and bedroom, as well as some areas needing more thorough cleaning. A few reviews noted musty smells and dated furnishings, indicating room for improvement.
The location is widely praised for its stunning lochside views, peacefulness, and wildlife. Its remoteness is a positive for most, though the access road is challenging and the proximity to a fish farm is noted by some. Overall, the setting is a major highlight.
Guests generally found the Boathouse cosy and warm, with comfortable living spaces and a lovely log burner. However, some found the bed and pillows too soft or awkwardly positioned, and a few mentioned issues with the sofa bed and towels.
The property is well-equipped with a kitchen, washer/dryer, and log burner, but several reviews mention maintenance issues such as a broken shower head, blown bulbs, and dated kitchenware. Facilities are functional but could benefit from updates and repairs.
Some guests appreciated the provision of maps, guides, and a well-stocked kitchen, but others noted the absence of a welcome pack or small touches like milk or wine glasses. While gifts or extras have been mentioned in the past, they are not guaranteed.

Set on the north-west of the famous Isle of Skye, the village of Dunvegan is a quirky mixture of traditional stone dwellings and modern houses. With a wide selection of shops and hotels, Dunvegan is only a mile from the thirteenth century castle home of the Clan Macleod – who are said to have had dealings with the "wee folk" at the Fairy Bridge. Also in the area - with fantastic rock forms and pinnacles - are the Cuillin Mountains, which many climbers consider some of the best in the country. The Aros Centre provides a wide variety of concerts, theatre and cinema throughout the year and is well worth a visit, whilst Portree, the island's only town boasts and excellent range of shops, restaurants and hotels, as well as a picturesque natural harbour.

The accommodation would really benefit from being updated and we found the bed quite uncomfortable. The road does have a lot of potholes leading up to the house but generally they are bad on the island. The log burner was lovely and good to have because only one storage heater was switched on and that didnât give out much heat. There is also a washer/dryer and microwave which were useful. We enjoyed looking out of the lovely window onto the lake each day.

We enjoyed looking at the windows at the birds and the boats. I've read previous reviews about disturbance from the boatyard, but we didn't find that. A beautiful and remote location for a stay, and ideal for exploring the Isle of Skye.
John
The track to the boat house was full of large potholes, the fish farm has maintenance yards on each side of the boat house with a large floating pontoon directly in front of the boat house with up to five boats operating from there, pictures on your site need updated.
