The Birches is a spacious and comfortable cottage praised for its quiet location and ample outdoor space. Guests appreciate the well-equipped property and the hospitable host, making it an excellent base for exploring the area and enjoying wildlife. Some guests noted areas for improvement, but overall experiences were very positive.
Most guests found the cottage to be clean and well-maintained, though one review mentioned dust and disorganized cupboards. The majority of positive comments suggest a high level of cleanliness overall.
The location is highly praised for its tranquility and proximity to nature, with sightings of wildlife adding to the charm. It is also considered a good base for local and further afield explorations, despite being somewhat remote.
Guests consistently describe the cottage as comfortable, with multiple lounges and a dog-proof garden. The spaciousness and quietness contribute to a relaxing stay, although some guests suggested improvements such as better lighting and a larger bed.
The property is well-equipped, but several reviews noted the lack of WiFi and a usable log burner, as well as the need for better kitchen lighting and a shower over the bath. These issues suggest room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
The host's thoughtfulness is evident through the provision of welcome goodies and their readiness to assist guests. While such gestures are highly appreciated, it is important to note that such personal touches, though delightful, are not guaranteed.

We had a great week away, the cottage is a very good size, clean and in a very quiet area. The only things I noticed that I personally would fix if I owned it are that the log burner in the main room isn't usable, there's no WiFi, and the kitchen lighting, it's pretty hard to see what you're doing if it's gone dark outside due to the only light being behind you and not being very bright. Also a shower above the bath. But as for the rest, it's great, the room with the two couches is great for hiding away to relax, and we took a Bluetooth speaker with us and that room was the perfect 'music room'. Also it was great that it was so easy to get in touch with the owner if we needed to speak to her, so we will be booking again if the cottage is available next summer.

We had a lovely stay at The Birches. Very spacious bungalow, only a couple of things that could have been better, a shower in the main bathroom and a king size bed in main bedroom, but nothing that spoilt our holiday. We had plenty of birds every day at the feeders and had a deer at the back early one morning. The welcome goodies were a lovely thought and much appreciated. Everything that you needed was provided and we would definitely recommend. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Beautifully clean and very comfortable with everything as described. Lovely open-plan kitchen/lounge so that anyone cooking is not isolated. Spacious inside with the possibility of some members of the family reading quietly in the second lounge while others enjoy the television in the first lounge. Very quiet location and fully dog-proof garden. Very easy to get to Nairn, the Moray beaches, Loch Ness, Aviemore and beyond. Very hospitable and kind host. We had a great couple of weeks.
