About this property

Muir of Ord 2 miles.

This superior detached Highland Farmhouse is thought once to have been a sporting lodge and is most likely over 300 years old, set in the countryside two miles from the town of Muir of Ord. Now totally refurbished, this Muir of Ord cottage still retains the quality and charm of bygone days, combined with the utter comfort and facilities required by the discerning holidaymakers of today. Set in private gardens in the heart of the Highlands, and surrounded by green fields, this Scottish Highlands cottage is located on a working farm, in an area well known for its fishing and outdoor sports; in fact the cottage is only 200 yards from the River Conon. Standing regally at the end of a flower-lined driveway, this Muir of Ord cottage cannot fail to impress, and is ideal for a family gathering or group of friends who really want to explore this fabulous area and yet spend time relaxing in the quiet comfort of this Highland cottage. Luxuriously appointed throughout, the accommodation includes a ground floor bedroom with en-suite, and four further bedrooms on the upper floor, two with en-suites. There are two sitting rooms, both with woodburning stoves and big comfortable sofas. Double doors lead out from the formal dining room to a large patio area with furniture and BBQ. The farmhouse-style dining kitchen in this Highlands cottage also has a woodburning stove, making it a most sociable space for relaxing and informal dining. Completing this immaculately-presented Muir of Ord cottage is a large utility/boot room just off the kitchen. The gardens surrounding this Highland cottage provide seclusion and peace and yet just a short drive away the towns of Muir of Ord and Beauly offer excellent services whilst Aviemore and the Cairngorms National Park are less than an hour away!

Muir of Ord is a small town near the Beauly Firth, within easy reach of towns such as Beauly, Dingwall and Inverness. Muir of Ord offers some shops and hotels, and makes a good base for enjoying the Great Ord Distillery and Visitor Centre, and the walking and cycling of Glen Affric Nature Reserve.

It was very comfortable and was well kitted out. Tastefully decorated and in a super location.

The owner was also really nice; he invited us to help ourselves to the plums and apples in the garden - delicious. When the kettle packed in, he provided a replacement in an hour. Great service. The only drawback was the lack of high power chargers in the area for my electric car. Twice I had to drive into Inverness to charge up.

Very high standard and very spacious. Location is very quiet but within easy reach of many places to visit.
