Set right in the heart of the fishing village Kinlochbervie, The Old Surgery was the doctor’s surgery for many years through the twentieth century. The current owner can vividly remember visiting as a child and sitting in the waiting room! The Old Surgery we hasten to add has been renovated since being a doctor’s surgery. It is now a cute holiday home waiting to make the perfect base in the far north of Scotland.

This property has two bedrooms, one double and one twin, as well as a shower room and an open plan kitchen/living/dining room make this holiday home a simple affair. It’s very comfortable though and enjoy an enclosed back garden for dogs to enjoy. The location of The Old Surgery and Kinlochbervie is very special. You have a sea view from the property, you look down to Loch Inchard and the harbourside of Kinlochbervie. It’s a working fishing port and you’ll see many boats coming and going at all hours - it’s quite an exciting sight in fact! Being only a few miles off the NC500, and only 30 minutes’ drive from Durness, you’re in a great spot to explore this remote spot of the United Kingdom. It’s a very special place this corner of the Highlands and one you’ll be glad to have a good base to explore from.

As well as Durness you’re close to Kylesku with its fabulous hotel and restaurant and Lochinver isn’t too far away either, but you have so much on your doorstep that you won’t need to stray far during your stay at The Old Surgery. Oldshoremore Beach is just over two miles away, and it’s an absolute dream of a place. It’s accompanied by Polin Beach a headland over and then tiny but stunning Sheigra Beach too. And then a walk from nearby Blairmore will take you to world renown Sandwood Bay Beach. All these stretches of white and golden sand are within John Muir Trust land so you’re seeing these places in the most amazing condition. We could go on and on about the area around The Old Surgery, it’s so special, but we won’t. Instead, we urge you to visit yourself and experience somewhere truly special. You will love having The Old Surgery as your comfy bolthole for a short break or better still a week or more.

The cottage was immaculate on arrival. The kitchen has everything you need. The beds were comfy and the shower worked perfectly. The bonus wee laundry cupboard and the gorgeous wee outdoor area were much appreciated. The views from the cottage are beautiful. Bonus points for the Herons who sleep in the trees behind the cottage at night. The location is brilliant for exploring this beautiful part of Scotland. The local Spar store is well stocked. You can get fuel in the village too. We had great food at ‘Worth a Look’ and the ‘Quay House’ both in the village. We walked all around the area and visited Oldshoremore, Polin, and Sheigra. We drove to Scourie, Lairg, and Durness. If you like hustle and bustle this not the location for you. If you like walking, a slower pace of life, and beautiful scenery then this is the place for you.
