About this property

Ardgour 6 miles. The Apartment boasts an elevated position overlooking the bleak waters of Loch Linnhe, near the village of Ardgour on the Scottish mainland. With some of the country's most popular attractions within easy reach, this cosy bolthole is ideal for couples seeking adventure. Climb the external steps and up onto the decked terrace, and from here you can see as far as the Corran Ferry, on a crisp, clear morning. Inside you will be welcomed by an open-plan living room exuding a contemporary feel throughout with dual aspect windows streamed in natural light, enhancing the bright colour schemes and textures. Set within wooden frames, they complement the worktops and fixtures, almost reflected in the wood floors sweeping across the room, curl up on the L-shape sofa and listen to the gentle tapping of the rain on the skylight above you, while you enjoy a film together, whereas on a bright, summer's day, they flood the room with sunlight. A well-appointed kitchen sits in one corner of the room where you can rustle up delicious home-cooked meals during your stay, and from here you will come to the shower room displaying modern fixtures and an all-white finish. The double room is just as cosy as the sitting area, again with uplifting colours to brighten your mood, use the raised terrace for sitting out and enjoying the scenery before sipping on a mug of something hot, finishing the day nicely. Known as the gateway to the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, this peaceful village of Ardgour offers a wonderful base for you to walk, climb and explore, allowing an adventurous getaway for ramblers and nature lovers. Ardnamurchan Point Lighthouse is an extremely popular attraction in the area, found at the most westerly point on the mainland, and well worth a visit to delve into history. Fort William can be accessed by road or by ferry and hosts a variety of shops, and pubs as well as a plethora of walking opportunities, perfect for a day of shopping where you can stock up on essentials before tucking into a classic pub grub away from the kitchen. Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis, offers two main walking routes, and the Nevis Range attracts thrill seekers and ski enthusiasts from all over the country. This charming retreat is in an ideal location for discovering the awe and wonder of the West Highlands. EPC Rating: Band C

The Apartment has everything you need, it’s so comfortable and modern and everything is high quality. Lovely welcome basket, thank you. The views are magnificent and it’s so quiet. Great location and love the brewery which is a short walk away. I hope the ferry gets fixed soon as it does add extra time on to your journey. The free passenger ferries are great tho. I could have happily stayed another week thanks to the lovely accommodation.

It is a lovely base to explore the area. The views from the balcony are unparalleled and totally stunning. We enjoyed watching the world go by. Corran ferry is not running now for the next six weeks so add an extra hour each way when driving to Fort William, down a single track road. The best find was the Ardgour Ales microbrewery, a short walk from the property. Fergus will serve you award- winning ales, bake fresh bread and delicious burgers. He also is a fount of knowledge about the area. However, we were disappointed in some aspects of our stay and felt that the Apartment lacked some of the 5 star finishing touches that we expect from Sykes Cottages. 1) On arrival we found that the place mats in the cupboard were dirty with stains on them! 2) The transparent shower gel and hand wash were less than half full which just gave the impression that the owner could not be bothered! 3) The "Welcome Basket" was the least welcoming we have ever had! A loaf, a bag of crisps and milk in the fridge! What happened to the beers and wine to sample, as advertised in the previous guest reviews? Even some fresh flowers would have made the experience more welcoming. 4) Some wooden beams on the balcony are rotting so this is just to flag it up for safety reasons. 5) Every previous accommodation has provided essentials such as tin foil, cling film, dishwasher tablets and spare black bags. There were none here. It just felt that the cleanliness and finer details let the holiday down.

The property is very well appointed, and has an amazing shower, oh and the view of the loch as well. Plenty to do and see. We climbed Ben Nevis, visited Ardnamurchan Point, which is well worth the drive, especially if you also visit The Abandoned Village of Glendrian, while you are there, and then drive down to the bay to paddle in the sea. The train from Fort William to Mallaig is also recommended. Be careful if you drive to Fort William around the loch, as there is plenty of deer. Will will return, yes.
