Grantown-on-Spey is in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. It has a variety of shops, bars and restaurants in the town and it can be used as a base for exploring the varied pursuits of the area. Enjoy fishing, golfing on the area's two courses, walking in the surrounding hills and woodlands, bird watching and of course following the Castle and Whisky trails. In season, skiing is a popular activity at the nearby Cairngorms and Lecht Ski Centres, while the scenery of the Cairngorms National Park offers tranquil respite from a hectic life, no matter what the season.

We had an excellent holiday and will definitely return. The furnishings and decor are all A1, the house is in a very quiet spot which is a few minutes walk from the town and the shops. Grantown is a great, easy access yet quiet location from which to explore the region. Lots of walks from the doorstep if you wish. The owner was lovely and left a great welcome pack. Thank you

It is spacious and for once, in a kitchen, there is both ample worktop space and storage for food items which I brought with me. Outside, there is off road parking for a number of cars but my only slight niggle was with the difficulty in leaving the parking area. You have to do a 90 turn to the right into a narrowish track and I could never make it in one go. I had to go forward, reverse a bit and then carefully go forward again. Always a bit of a tense moment. But as I said, a minor issue. Downstairs double bed is comfy and shower great. The immediate vicinity is pleasant and very quiet. Nearby, about a 10 minute walk is Anagach Woods which is a great place for a walk. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my fortnight (except for the weather!) and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

The accommodation is as described, it was nice a warm, private, spacious and well equipped. Pros: Friendly host Location Spacious Cons: Not obvious to find on first visit (as small drive between two houses) Tight turn into the driveway (in snow, this was a little tricky but nothing I couldn't handle). Buzzing noise from the boiler which is located next to the double bedroom (I'm sensitive to things like this, it may not affect most people). Clare was amazing and went above and beyond for us, it was our ten year anniversary and she bought us flowers, chocolates and also general supplies such as milk, butter bread and orange juice, all these little touches meant a lot to us. Would we stay here again, yes absolutely. Fantastic place.
