Otterburn 1 is a semi-detached traditional cottage with a modern kitchen and bathroom. Situated in Melvaig on the west coast, 15 miles from Gairloch in Wester Ross. A 20-minute drive from Gairloch. Views over the Minch to Rona, Raasay and the Isle of Skye.

We have just returned from a lovely holiday at Otterburn-1. Amazing location as long as you don’t mind the isolation. Approx 15 minute drive over single track avoiding the sheep, to the nearest village (Gairloch) which has a Coop, little Morrisons, petrol station, pharmacy, police, school, health centre, and a lovely sandy beach. The local area is lovely, but it was also a great base for exploring the highlands - as long as you don’t mind long drives to do so. Spectacular views and beaches everywhere - loved it! Firemore and Gairloch beaches were our favourites. We visited Skye, Kyle of Lochalsh, Ullapool, Applecross, and the Bealach da Ba during our stay. We came home via Lovh Ness, Fort William, Glencoe and Loch Lomond, so we packed a lot in! The cottage was very comfortable and well stocked. Warm and toasty even when the storms were outside. Sheep on the hillside and roads, and even a deer in the garden two mornings running! Would definitely recommend and if only it wasn’t 11 hours from our house we’d be up there all the time! Only slightly negative aspect is the low hot water pressure which can’t be helped but made washing up challenging (but they have a dishwasher and a kettle so it was fine) and the shower a little underwhelming - that really is all I can find to criticise, as it was so lovely. Thank you for a lovely stay. We have memories we will treasure.
