About this property

SAVE UP TO £330 ON END-OF-SUMMER COTTAGE GETAWAYS

Sandray Cottage is part of a three-cottage hamlet at Kytra Lock. This semi-detached heritage property enjoys all the benefits of a completely secluded spot but offers easy access to whole host of activities. Full of original charm, Sandray has period features, polished wooden floors and traditional fabrics that give it character and comfort.

Kytra Lock is the ideal location for people who really want to get away from it all. It’s as sheltered and secluded a spot as you’ll find anywhere, yet it’s only two miles from Fort Augustus and a range of activities. Surrounded by Scots pines and overlooked by Tor Dhuin hill fort, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’ve stepped into a postcard. The hamlet feels a million miles away from the normal everyday life – exactly what you want from a holiday home. There’s also a private garden, just the place to enjoy a quiet drink while watching the boats sail by.

Sitting on the southernmost tip of Loch Ness, Fort Augustus is well worth a visit and has a good village pub and restaurant. An impressive system of locks brings canal boats into the village and watching the boats trying to negotiate the locks is a popular pastime. The Caledonian Canal Heritage Centre will allow you to find out more about traditional Highland life, or for a more gentle occupation, visit the Rare Breeds Croft. Kids will love the deer, highland cattle, sheep goats and pheasants – not to mention the pot-bellied pigs!

A 45-minute drive north, guests can take a cruise on Loch Ness to hunt down the Loch Ness Monster, whilst enjoying magnificent views of Urquhart Castle. Visit Invermoriston where the Moriston Falls, complete with salmon jumping, can be viewed from the Thomas Telford Bridge. Or drive to the Isle of Skye, passing Eilean Donan – Scotland’s most photographed castle. The area also hosts a large number of outdoor activities including mountain biking, hill-walking, golf, fishing, horse-riding, kayaking and windsurfing. If all the peace and quiet gets too much, Fort William and Inverness are less than an hour’s drive away.

The property has four steps to the entrance.

Bedroom 1: With double bed.

Bedroom 2: With twin beds.

Please note: There is an unfenced canal 20 yards away. The property has a natural water supply from a spring.
