This pretty detached single storey cottage is set in its own grounds at the end of the Achnacarnin township road on the Stoer Peninsula - one of the most breathtaking beautiful locations on the renowned north west coast of Scotland. With views across the sea to the Assynt Mountains beyond, this cottage has been built to maximise its idyllic location.

Whilst it is a modern property, the main living area takes its inspiration from a traditional croft house and byre, with high ceilings and wood burning stove, surrounded by Caithness stone. The Gaelic name translates at The Green House; this alludes not only to the outside paintwork, but also to its eco friendly green credentials with a heat pump supplying heat and hot water, which was pretty innovative when it was built. Shops, pub and restaurant 8 miles.

The laundry service picks up on Thursday mornings. They don't need to see you or come into the house as they collect from a separate place, but it can be a shock to see someone walk past the window in the early morning so we thought we'd warn you.

The cottage is lovely and we enjoyed our stay there very much. It is quite far from shops and it is not especially easy to get to, but the twisty and mountainous road is very scenic and the sandy Clashnessie beach and waterfalls are relatively close. The Old Man of Stoer and the Lighthouse are within walking distance and both are “must-see”. We will miss the panoramic view from the living room - the sea and the mountains. There is another house just opposite the cottage, but it did not spoil the view. Overall, we loved the cottage and happy to recommend it.
