From your doorstep, you’ll find plenty to see and do. The Kyle of Sutherland is popular for both salmon and sea trout so ideal for our fishers, permit can be arranged locally. Loch Migdale is a freshwater loch ideal for canoeing and paddle boarding. A visit to the Falls of Shin is a must to view the very popular waterfall.
The nearby Dornoch Firth provides opportunities for scenic walks and birdwatching, while just a short drive away, the historic town of Dornoch itself boasts a beautiful cathedral, sandy beach, and world-renowned golf course. The local pipe band play in the square every Saturday evening in the summer months around 8 PM.
Nature lovers can head into the wilds of Sutherland or explore the lush woodlands of the nearby Carbisdale Castle estate. For those interested in history and heritage, the area is rich with ancient sites, from standing stones to Iron Age brochs.

Drumlea Cottage is an ideal "away from it all" retreat. Located on the hillside just outside Bonar Bridge on a working croft, it looks out over a field of sheep to the Kyle of Sutherland and the Easter Ross hills. Forest walks are 5 minutes away and roads accessing all the local towns (Tain, Donarch, Golspie on the east and further way Ullapool on the west) are at the bottom of the hill with a newly surfaced road. The owners are on hand to offer advice and help. including tips on places to visit. Bonar Bridge now lacks some of its former facilities but the local shops are excellent. Nearby Lairg has a good restaurant and more shops. For a quiet holiday spot with comfort and all necessary home comforts, Drumlea could not be bettered.
