Coachman's Cottage receives high praise for its peaceful setting on the Falkland Estate, offering direct access to scenic walks and the charming village of Falkland. Guests consistently highlight the cottage's cleanliness, spaciousness, and suitability for dog owners. The location is ideal for exploring Fife and nearby attractions. While most reviews are very positive, a few mention minor maintenance issues and limited welcome provisions. Overall, the cottage is highly recommended for a relaxing countryside break.
The majority of guests describe the cottage as clean, spotless, and well maintained. A few minor issues, such as an out-of-date shortbread and a teaspoon with food residue, were mentioned but did not detract significantly from the overall impression.
The location is frequently described as superb, peaceful, and ideal for walks, with easy access to the village and wider Fife. Guests appreciate the proximity to local amenities, historic sites, and natural beauty.
Guests find the cottage spacious, warm, and comfortably furnished, with particular praise for the beds and sofas. A couple of minor comments about the settee and back door do not overshadow the overall comfort.
The cottage is generally considered well equipped, with good heating, kitchenware, and outdoor space. Some guests noted the need for more doormats, minor garden maintenance, and occasional issues with the cooker or outside lighting.
Some guests mentioned a lack of a substantial welcome pack and minimal provisions (such as only one toilet roll). While a few appreciated the available amenities, gifts or welcome packs are not guaranteed.

Many great aspects for this cottage close to Falkland - which has pub - bakery - coffee shops and small local shop - Great location - on the Falkland estate near the woodland walks Lovely and clean accommodation on arrival Comfortable bedrooms double beds Bathroom small but adequate walk in shower Lounge - settee perhaps not the best - tv has Netflix etc 2 arm chairsWood burning BBC stove Kitchen good - plenty of cups plates etc Outside well fenced off great for our dog though need some minor attention - tidy up bit has some outside chairs Downside - no views as such - near entrance to the local walking path and Falkland car park - an be busy and people walking past rear windows especially when there is a wedding in the centre behind - Overall good - definitely stay again

The location of this cottage is excellent - away from the busyness of Falkland’s centre but only a few minutes walk to the village or into the wooded estate. The village itself has a variety of small shops but all the large supermarkets (including an M&S foodhall) can be easily driven to in Glenrothes. Generally, a good base for exploring Fife both inland and the coast by car, or even catching the train from nearby Markinch to venture into nearby cities, including Edinburgh. Whilst the cottage itself is very clean and well-equipped, the sitting out area is in need of some attention (weeding) and better seating/table would be useful. Overall, I’ve no hesitation in recommending this cottage.
