Aberdour is also home to some of the finest beaches in Scotland including Silver Sands Beach, which offers golden sands and views of the Firth of Forth towards Edinburgh, attracting watersports enthusiasts or those just wanting to relax. Black Sands is a second beach with sweeping sea views to be enjoyed from the town’s expansive golf course. Another attraction is Aberdour's historic Castle, built in the 1100s and thought to be one of Scotland’s oldest stone castles, where visitors can explore the walled gardens and terraces. For more historic sites and cultural attractions, the vibrant capital city of Edinburgh is home to The Queen's official Scottish residence in Holyrood Park, the Scottish National Gallery of Modem Art, Edinburgh Zoo and Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, to name a few! You’ll also find a wonderful selection of restaurants, bars, pubs and shops along the city’s iconic streets, such as Edinburgh's Royal Mile. Loch Leven is a picturesque loch in Fife that offers plenty of outdoor activities and attractions for visitors. Kirkgate Park is a beautiful green space located on the banks of the loch, and Lochleven Castle is a must-see for history buffs. For a stunning setting with much to see and do, choose 40 Main Street. EPC Rating: Band C

Aberdour is a mediaeval seaside community located across the Firth of Forth from Edinburgh, with its main street just inland and narrow alleyways connecting it to the village's coastal section. Originally built up around the harbour where the Dour Burn meets the River Forth, the village was actually two: Wester Aberdour and Easter Aberdour, but the railway brought the two together at the end of the nineteenth century. Aberdour Castle, which dates from the 12th century, is one of Scotland's oldest remaining stone castles. The site is now administered by Historic Scotland, and visitors can explore the walled garden and terraces, as well as the unusual beehive-shaped dovecot, which the Douglases added to throughout the ages.

Our second time there so it is recommended.

Aberdour is a great little village that is a joy to explore, with the added bonus of a train station, with direct access to Edinburgh. We spent a wonderful week there, and are looking forward to returning soon!

The flat was like a home away from home, and it was very cosy and so comfortable. There is everything you could need, the place was spotless and it was really quiet on a night. It's only a few minutes from the train station and a return ticket to Edinburgh is extremely reasonably priced. We loved our stay here, would highly recommend.
