Guests say

St Andrews cottage in Pittenweem receives high praise for its stunning harbour views, excellent location, and comfortable, well-equipped interiors. Guests appreciate the spacious layout, tasteful décor, and proximity to local amenities and coastal walks. The property is frequently described as clean and welcoming, with many guests eager to return. While a few maintenance issues and dated features are mentioned, these are outweighed by the overall positive experience and the attentive communication from the host.

The majority of guests found the cottage to be very clean and well presented, with several reviews specifically mentioning spotless accommodation. Only a couple of minor issues, such as an overgrown courtyard and a few maintenance niggles, were noted.

The location is consistently highlighted as outstanding, with direct harbour views, easy access to walks, and proximity to local shops, eateries, and attractions. Guests repeatedly describe it as perfect and unbeatable.

Guests frequently mention the cottage's comfort, including cosy beds, warm interiors, and spacious living areas. Occasional comments about minor issues (e.g., beds not zipped together or dated showers) are rare and do not detract from the overall comfort.

The cottage is praised for being well equipped, with a well-stocked kitchen and thoughtful amenities. However, several guests mention maintenance issues such as faulty electrics, ill-fitting toilet seats, and dated showers, which slightly reduce the score.

Guests appreciated welcome packs (wine and coffee) and good communication from the host. However, as gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, future guests should not expect them as standard.

The location of this lovely cottage is sublime. A quintessential fisherman’s cottage, the property has been restored to provide luxury, contemporary and tastefully furnished, self-catering accommodation yet still maintaining some of the character within a unique setting. There has been a fisherman’s cottage on this location since the 16th-century and the original building fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1908 and not rebuilt until 1918 after the Great War. The family who built the new fisherman’s cottage were from St Andrews, hence the name. The old hooks where the fishing nets were hung to dry are still on the wall in the back garden, which is now a sunny courtyard and ideal for enjoying the summer sun with a glass of wine. The old wash house still has the old sink and is great for cleaning sports equipment or rinsing the sand off your buckets and spades. Within the cottage you will find it is beautifully presented with much thought, care and attention to the finer details. Both spacious double bedrooms are en-suite, and on the ground floor there is also a large storage cupboard to store your golf equipment. The open plan living space on the first floor captures the amazing sea views to enable guests to enjoy watching the fishing boats entering and leaving the picturesque harbour, and the fish market in the morning where the local fishermen sell their catch. If fish is on your menu you can purchase freshly caught fish and prepare that special meal in the well-equipped kitchen.

From your front door you can walk to the local inn, fish and chip shop, restaurants, chocolate shop and café, local bakers shop and an interesting array of artist galleries. Explore the quaint lanes and wynds of this historic fishing village and find St Fillan’s cave in Cove Wynd, which was used as a chapel by St Fillan in the 700s. Pittenweem Arts Festival held at the beginning of August is a very popular event. The Fife Coastal Path passes through the village and is ideal for exploring the coast on foot to picturesque fishing villages and beautiful sandy beaches and coves. This area is famous for golf and St Andrews with its championship courses is within 10 miles, as are more than twenty other local courses so you will be spoilt for choice. With historic buildings, whisky distillery, museums and visitor attractions and boat trips to the Isle of May to see the wild birds, St Andrews in Pittenweem is the perfect location for all ages to explore this area of Fife. Edinburgh 45 miles. Perth 40 miles. Dundee 23 miles. Beach 120 yards. Shop 300 yards, pub 50 yards, restaurant 10 yards.

A beautiful property in one of the best locations in Pittenweem. Extremely well equipped, very comfortable and spacious for four adults. Nice area to sit out at the back of the property - and we even had the weather to do that! Despite parking being on road, we never had a problem finding a space. Fantastic comms with the very helpful owner too - we love the East Neuk and are already planning our next visit to stay in this wonderful house.

This is an upside house with two bedrooms with en suite shower rooms downstairs. Upstairs is a large open plan lounge, kitchen and diner. There is also an upstairs toilet. Lovely view over harbour and Firth of Forth.

St Andrews is located on the harbour side with wonderful views of the Firth of Forth. It is very comfortable and spacious. We experienced one or two niggles during our stay which were reported to the owner and were to be rectified. We would stay here again.
