This charming, equestrian themed, first floor apartment, forming the upper portion of the old stables, is situated quietly within the attractive grounds of the Gilmilnscroft Estate with fabulous gardens and lovely walks throughout. With home from home furnishings, facilities and creature comforts, the home really offers an ideal escape for your next stay. Inclusive of a well equipped kitchen with appliances needed to rustle up a homely meal, a comfortable double bedroom with linen and 1 pillow per person provided, and a lively living room boasting a Freeview TV and CD player for an evening of relaxation after a days exploration. New for summer 2019 is a fully refurbished summer house, for use of both properties. The owner will be pleased to show you the beautifully preserved Victorian stables that lie below.
Located close to the quiet village of Sorn with easy access to the River Ayr Way, with over 40 miles of walks through one of the most interesting valleys in southern Scotland with a wide range of habitats and wildlife. Dumfries House, made famous by Prince Charles’ involvement, is located approximately 3 miles away, and is a major attraction in East Ayrshire, as is Auchinleck House, home to James Boswell, a similar distance away. Also close by is the wonderful Ayrshire Coastal Path, with over 100 miles along one of the finest panoramic coastlines. Inland, there are gardens and castles to visit, riding, racing, a choice of golf courses and several country parks, with Culzean Castle, 45 minutes away, (owned by the National Trust for Scotland) and being Ayrshire’s most popular tourist attraction, with a network of wooded trails passing along the beach. Day trips to Ireland can be taken from Cairnryan. The bustling cosmopolitan city of Glasgow is only a 45-minute drive and Edinburgh is 1½ hours, with good train links from Prestwick. Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is approximately 1¼ hours away and the ferry links to the islands of Cumbrae, Bute and Arran are all close by. Visitors are welcome all year round, and during January and February, you can enjoy the snowdrops, snow, frost and crisp sunshine. From the 1st April to the 15th June, this is the time for the most reliable weather, with the spring bluebells, birdsong and the ornate gardens. September to November brings the autumn colour which is exceptional due to the prominence of the native beech trees. Beach 15 miles. Shop within 2 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Very , very quiet place. Very pleasant for that. Déco in line with the environnement, it suits the place. We enjoyed the possibilities to explore different places of qualities more or less close from the flat. From 10 mn to 2 hours.Adrian was very helpfull espacially on our arrival as it was late and shops closed. Nice place to rest.

The Old Stables was conveniently located for a family visit in the area, however the bed was VERY firm and we both suffereed with back pain daily. The shower (over bath) was good but the showering space was very cramped. The decor was quirky, with lots of artifacts/period pieces. Overall, the property wasn't very clean, despite the seven-hour time period between one holiday-maker leaving and the next one gaining access.

Spacious accommodation taking up the first floor of a former stable block up a long tree lined drive. Situated near the main Gilmanscroft House with walking access to the gardens and estate. Very well placed for Dumfries House and Culzean Castle, day trips or longer to the Island of Arran are popular too.Accessed by some exterior steps is a separate bedroom, lounge, a large kitchen from which the bathroom is accessed a few steps. Every room is decorated with countless pictures and the long hall has well filled book shelves. We slept well in the peaceful surroundings.Easy arrival and Adrian is around if needed for anything.
