Stranraer is a vibrant and bustling harbour town known as ’the gateway to the Rhinns of Galloway’. Take a stroll along the seafront and spend a few hours in Agnew Park which has a wide range of leisure facilities for all ages, including a boating lake, a play park for the younger kids, and an 18-hole putting green, or just enjoy a morning coffee in the café making the most of the views over Lochryan Bay. The town also offers a wide range of shops, pubs, and restaurants where you can dine out. This beautiful area of southwest Scotland is a delightful area and boasts rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches, which benefit from the warmth of the passing Gulf Stream, and is surrounded by breathtaking scenery. There are many beautiful gardens to explore, including the world-renowned Logan Botanical Gardens. Take a drive out to some of the many pretty little ports such as Sandhead and Portpatrick, or the rspb Scotland Mull of Galloway Nature Reserve, Scotland’s most southerly point, where thousands of sea birds nest in the cliff face during the spring and summer. Walking is a delight, whether clifftop, beaches, hills, or forests, and the Southern Upland Way passes close by. Perfect for cycling enthusiasts, the world-famous 7Stanes are within easy reach. If you prefer golf, there are many facilities nearby, and the county course is just a short drive away. Nearby Cairnryan is home to the Stena Line ferry, making a day trip to Ireland a great day out.

WOW this cottage is a little gem of a property ☺️ well equipped, clean and very comfortable. Highly recommend but don't tell everyone about it shhhhhhhhh lol 😂😂 the views are amazing no matter what the weather comes rain or shine this is beautiful. We have been coming up to this area for 30 years and it changes but stays the same. Neighbours are lovely and friendly and the owners are just as lovely and nothing is to much trouble. We will definitely be back thank you for a wonderful greatly needed holiday **

Just returned from a superb week staying at Ailsa Craig View. The cottage is in an excellent location both for views over Loch Ryan and also only a 5 minute walk along the seafront promenade into Stranraer Town Centre. There is a Morrisons & Tesco within walking distance to get provisions and numerous eating & drinking venues in town (we would recommend The Craignelder Hotel for an eating out 'treat', The Shoreline Pub for drinks with an excellent atmosphere and China Blue for a chinese takeaway back at the cottage). The cottage was extremely clean upon arrival and the bed was super comfy. Plenty of plates / utensils / crockery / cups & glasses provided together with a washing machine / dryer / dishwasher etc. There was off road parking for 2 cars and a great area to sit out in the evening with views across the loch. Stranraer is an excellent location to explore the wider area (Mull of Galloway, Sandhead, Ardwell Bay, Lady Bay, Glenwhan Gardens, Castle Kennedy Gardens, Logan Botanic Gardens, Port Logan, Aldouran Wetland Gardens etc etc). There is also an interesting town trail around Stranraer taking in the Castle of St John and the Museum. Arrival / Departure was easy with clear instructions from Emma who was a super host. We will definitely be returning and booking this cottage again.

A very comfortable, beautifully clean and well equiped house - an ideal base for exploring the locality. It was great waking up to the splendid view over Loch Ryan each morning and enjoying the same view during the day from extensive patio doors in the lounge. Thoroughly recommended.
